According to the Rocky Mountain News, the Rockies will cut ties with Willy Taveras before Friday night's contract tender deadline.

Things are opening up for Carlos Gonzalez, who should now get a legitimate shot at claiming a full time role in the Rockies outfield. Ryan Spilborghs could also see time in center field. A slew of teams are expected to go after Taveras once he officially becomes a free agent.

Thank goodness we didn't waste anything trying to make a trade for that guy.
