Well that clinched it.  This is Tim's last inning.

Did a great job, though. Not an easy lineup at all.

alright, Great job Tim!! 6 shutout innings against his old team!  Colome+Rivera should be able to pitch the last 3 innings.

I wouldn't trust Rivera as far as I can spit.

Really surprising that Church only has 10 HRs. Would have expected at least 18 this season.

104 isn't bad at all. Veterans SHOULD be able to get up to 125. Not more dangerous or anything.

Looks like Oswalt is going to miss his start on Thursday!  8)
Quote
HOUSTON -- The Astros have been holding out hope that Roy Oswalt will be able make his scheduled start on Thursday, but the right-hander was still experiencing discomfort from a strained left oblique muscle on Monday and the Astros ace will likely be skipped in favor of Juan Gutierrez.

Oswalt said he would know more about his status after throwing on flat ground prior to Monday night's game against the Washington Nationals. He was injured during Saturday's game at San Diego.

"I didn't stay out there long enough to really hurt it and when I first felt it in the top of the fourth I backed off and tried to get through two innings," Oswalt said. "Hopefully it's maybe one [missed] start and that's it."

Oswalt threw for approximately five minutes but was unavailable for comment before the Houston clubhouse closed before the game.

Oswalt is officially day-to-day. Astros manager Phil Garner, however, indicated that he would likely miss his turn and that another pitcher would have to take Oswalt's place against the Nationals on Thursday.

"Gutierrez is our No. 1 choice," Garner said. Triple-A Round Rock manager Jackie Moore "tells me he's got a little bulldog in him. His won-loss is not what we think it's going to be in the future but his basic numbers are pretty good."

Gutierrez was recalled on Aug. 17 from Round Rock, where he was 5-9 with a 3.96 ERA with 101 strikeouts in 24 games (145 1/3 innings).

yes, but I saw the 1st half of the season when he was carving people up, too. Can't give up on a guy in a funk...especially if he hasn't been that way all season. When he's on, he's great, IMO.

We got ourselves a nice lead which will allow Tim to work easily to the first innings. Let him go as long as he can as we don't wanna burn the pen in a game we got a 6-0 lead.
RAUCH BETTER NOT PLAY 2DAY!

I HAVE been watching the game, but just started catching up on the Game Thread.  This one cracked me up, reading it now that we have a 7-0 lead.

Great start, Tim!  It's not very often that a Nationals' starter pitches 7 scoreless innings.   :worship:

I think 8-10 of his doubles at RFK would have been HR's anywhere.  I hope he keeps progressing. Not much progress on laying off pitches in the dirt.

Lopez getting deeper into his "no-hit" funk.  Boy he looked so confident for about a month and then the trip out West just put his swing in a ditch.  I wonder if he needs Lasik or something for his eyes.

Wily Mo's gonna be happy here. I can feel it.

Langerhans had the 2nd best OBP here after he arrived, but he eventually fell back to poor hitting habits.  I think when you get picked up by a team that WANTS you, it gets a player's adrenaline flowing, and they play over their head, to prove their worth.  I hope Willy Mo keeps it going the rest of the year.
