I've been eating a tuna sandwich and two scrambled egg sandwiches every day almost exclusively for the past two-ish months. Low calories and very little fat, yet lots of protein so I don't have to worry about losing muscle mass.

Interesting idea...  I've been looking for ways to tighten up the food budget and eat better.

Just make the bread whole wheat or something better than the white wonder bread stuff.

Anyone been to the "Hurricane" in Seattle? They have omelets in increments of a dozen eggs.  Some friends and I destroyed a thirty-sixer with cheddar, bacon, sausage, and scallions.  Eggs are great.

Good stuff.

You should try Cholula, it's really tasty too.

Also good for the "burn your ass" type moments is Sontava

ever try a torta?

scramble some eggs and cook them with some salsa
take some black beans, mash and heat up with some minced garlic
spread the beans on the bottom of a baguette
put the eggs on top
cover with a few slices of avacado and some hot sauce

eat

I like single egg omelets with Pico de Gallo. If you use a 12" skillet, they come out like egg crepes.

That's a lot of mercury.  I don't think it's recommended to eat so much tuna or other large fish like swordfish.

Chunk lite is healthier than chunk white. Swordfish are endangered, you shouldn't eat them at all. Of course, the law prevents fish from being declared endangered . . .

Know what that is?  No, not strawberry ice cream.  That's mechanically separated chicken, which is used to make things like chicken nuggets.  :spaz:  but chicken mcnuggets are still tasty.

When Anthony Bourdain was asked to state the most disgusting thing he's ever eaten, he replied "A McDonald's Chicken Nugget".  I agree.

Quote
Someone figured out in the 1960s that meat processors can eek out a few more percent of profit from chickens, turkeys, pigs, and cows by scraping the bones 100% clean of meat. This is done by machines, not humans, by passing bones leftover after the initial cutting through a high pressure sieve. The paste you see in the picture above is the result.

There's more: because it's crawling with bacteria, it will be washed with ammonia... Then, because it tastes gross, it will be reflavored artificially. Then, because it is weirdly pink, it will be dyed with artificial color.

BTW, a new "Next Iron Chef" started this week on food channel, Ming Tsai, who has already beaten Bobby Flay and who won an emmy for his own cooking show is one of the contestants.  He won the first competition, and it wasn't even close.  I'll be very surprised if he doesn't win this thing.

I've eaten fried wasps, monkey, and all kinds of other screwy crap, and I will not set foot inside a McDonalds.  And there is one that is open 24/7 literally a block from my house.

McDonalds, Wendys, Roy Rogers, Arby's, Burger King, KFC, Popeyes, etc, are on my avoid at all costs list. I broke a 5 year no McDonald's streak when I went to Udvar-Hazy and they replaced Subway with McDonald's :spaz:

Ming Tsai is a monster.  Love some Flay, though.  Don't like Simon at all.

Careful now....

Honestly even putting Wendy's in the same league as McDonald's seems silly to me.  Now I'm not claiming Wendy's is gourmet dining or anything - far from it - but I will actually eat there on occasion and enjoy their food.  As opposed to McDonald's, which I've had maybe twice in 3 years...  and I don't even "hate" McDonald's like you guys, it just never comes to mind as something I would want to eat.

I disagree, Simon is awesome.  I watched that entire season of NIC, it was obvious from week one it was going to come down to Simon and John Besh, the final was very close as well.

Anyone have a local source (especially in Wheaton/Silver Spring area) for Macoun apples? I fell in love with them while living in NY, but they're hard to find here. They also are only available in the fall. Thanks.

Not local, but Apples ship very well.
