Radical idea -

Morgan
Willingham
dunn
Zimmerman
bernie
Desmond
Kennedy
Pudge
Atilano

Let's get more at bats for our 3-4-5 by making them 2-3-4.

hate to put the kiss of death on Nyjer (like I did on Willie last night), but Nyjer has started to turn thigns around, too, over the past 18 games (per Zuckerman).
I don't like that lineup. Too many Double play opportunities for Zim

Here is my suggestion

Bernie
Zim
Dunn
Hammer
Morse
Kennedy/Guzman
Desmond
Pudge
Pitcher

or

Bernie
Morse
Dunn
Zim
Hammer
Kennedy/Guzman
Desmond
Pudge
Pitcher

Lover Bernie in the 6 spot.  Desmond batting 2nd is nice.  Why the hell flip Zim/Dunn?  Keep the R/L/R/L/R 3-7 so Dirty Baker feels the need to make idiotic pitching matchup decisions and burns up his bullpen.

Leake is now down to 5.74 K/9, 1.79 K/BB and a 1.40 WHIP.  He's been touched up 4 times in the 6 starts since he saw us.  I've got a hunch we chase him by the 5th.

Morse should be playing everyday and Bernie it is pathetic that they don't play everyday.

Morgan-CF
Desmond-SS
Dunn-1b
Zimmerman-3B
Willingham-LF
Bernie-RF
Pudge-C
Kennedy-2b
Atilano-P

Riggleman grasping at straws :lmao:

what?  you want wil nieves and his .186 AVG in there?  your boy bernadina is already in there.  you hate guzman with a passion so kennedy is the other option at 2B.

me too ... desmond is batting .324 in the 2nd spot ... and bernadina provides some nice pop in that spot.

i'd keep zim @ 3rd, dunn @ clean-up.

Pudge should bat 1st so that he won't ever have to ground into a double play or right after morgan because Morgan won't reach base.

The easiest way to get Josh Willingham out is to walk him and let Pudge work his magic.

Would you rather have Nieves catch? Pudge is the best catcher we have

Pudge has been up to bat in 57 PA in double play situations, here are the results:

57 PA, .202/.234/.241/.473 OPS, 2 BB, 9 K, 18 GDP (32%)

40% of the time that Pudge hits the ball in these situations, it's a DP. For perspective, Pudge's 32% DP rate is double that of Nieves (16%), Kennedy (15%), and Zim (13%).

I actually like Rodriguez to adjust to what he's being thrown. 3 months should be enough time.

It's a shame Nieves doesn't have a single MLB caliber trait.  I was against the Pudge signing, especially for the money, but definitely didn't expect his bat to be this bad.  That great start is a long, long way away.  He's still great behind the plate, just no so much when he's standing next to it.  Either Burke or Maldonado would be a much better option than Wil.  They absolutely must put someone else in as the 2nd catcher who can play 2-3 times a week and not kill the team.

I wanted Rod Barajas but only because he was Buck Showalter's boy. Rodriguez never was a work the count hitter now he's another Guzman or worse. They have to address the starting catcher situation in the off season.

Agreed.  Pudge has zero power and is now a very slow slap hitter who is a GIDP waiting to happen.

It should tell you that he's gone 3 freaking games without an XBH with a black hole batting behind him.

One of the three best SPs in the NL shut him out on Saturday.  Sunday and Monday he reached base 3 of 8 times, a .375 OBP while getting nothing to swing at.  The adjustment is to put Bernadina behind him so he's followed by someone with a pulse in the lineup.

At least Nyjer has been getting on base the issue is getting timely hitting and score some runs they have to snap out of it evantually they can't suck this bad the rest of the year.

Nyjer runs himself off the bases way too often even with the recent uptick in OBP for him.  Even that improvement isn't great, .300 OBP in July, reached on 5 of 17 PAs (.294 OBP) since the break (4 singles, 1 BB, 1 SB, 1 CS), and that's not enough improvement after May (.286 OBP) and June (.290 OBP) for a leadoff hitter playing everyday.

At some point Riggleman absolutely must either drop Nyjer down to the 7/8 spot in the lineup or bench him for a while.
