One thing can be said about Lannan: He finds a way to right the ship
whenever he gets off to a slow start. Last Sunday afternoon was an
example of how Lannan battled back. He walked Brian Barton to lead off
the game and then gave up an RBI double to Rick Ankiel, but retired the
next eight hitters he faced. After looking shaky again in the third -- getting
two outs, then giving up a solo home run to Ankiel and walking the next
two hitters -- Lannan righted himself again and went on to pitch 6 2/3
innings, while giving up only seven hits. He struck out four and walked
three but took the loss in a 3-0 defeat.

Smoltz looked both impressive while recording six strikeouts in five
scoreless innings against the Mets on Sunday afternoon. The
40-year-old hurler opted to cut his effort short after feeling some
tightness in between his neck and right shoulder. He experienced similar
discomfort in late March, but isn't concerned about missing this next
start. Along with a 96 mph fastball, he showed the Mets some curveballs
and backdoor sliders.

2k6nats makes a PREEMPTIVE STRIKE, posting the GameDay Thread 2.5 hours before the 1:05 PM start time.  Very bbq552-esque.  And PREVENTS ronnynat from creating it, AND adds a post to 2k6nats's count to catch up...  The Post Count race goes on, as ronnynat slumbers...

"IMPRESSIVE..."

The weather forecast has improved, as only a shower or two in the morning is expected, with only a 30% chance of rain this afternoon, (down from 60%.)  I will be at the game today, as a season ticket holder unloaded some tickets on Thursday that I acquired.

Looks like another loss. Thanks 2k6.  >:(

I'm leaving for the game in about 15 minutes. Please, let our offense destroy Smoltz.

Predictions for the number of hits we get today?  I think we will have a good day with 5 hits!

It's a shame. Lannan will pitch about seven innings and allow just two runs, just like his last start, but we won't score and he'll take the loss. Poor guy...

I don't know, 2k6, but it may be a good thing you aren't a nominee in the punch in the face thread.

It's not even supposed to rain here in Centreville. Is it that bad up there?

It's on MASN, but there's a delay. They're showing ESPN2 replays right now.

I'm watching the NY-MIL game right now. Schneider's got one crazy NY mask. Santana is fooling everyone. NY is winning 2-1.

MLB.com says we are a go.

Does that mean we can start complaining now, or do we have to wait for the game to start?

Complaining may begin as soon as the lineups are posted.
