Football season approacheth...cast your vote.
Snagged this from a Washington Post poll, I had to abbreviate and took some names off...so you can add a write-in if you like.
For those who are not Redskin fans then just move along...move along now ya hear?!

You're right...I thought WaPo was doing offense only...but I guess it's both.

This is a tough question.  The powerhouse teams of the 80's are more recognized for the achievements of the team as a whole rather than any individual.  Riggins got a ton of pub, but he was reliant on The HOGS up front.  They were a perfect fit.  Joe T was a great QB for that team because although he had a pretty bod repuation, he may have been the toughest guy on the team.

As a result, I will vote for Sammy Baugh even though I never saw him play.

Had to vote for slingin Sammy.  Even I am not old enough to have seen him play, but he was the most dominant player the Skins have ever had.  Didn't he lead the NFL in passing, interceptions (as a safety) and punting, all the same year?

Jurgensen may be been the most talented QB.  He racked up unbelievable passing stats on some teams that had no defense, so they didn't get the championships.

Kilmer was a great leader, but did not play long enough to be included.  Charlie Taylor was perhaps the greatest receiver, but I barely saw Mitchell play, and have a bias for Taylor.  Mitchell was always dropping passes when I saw him late in his career.

Larry Brown was the best running back.  He never had the lines, got all his yardage on talent at first, and then heart after his knees were shot.  If I could pick any Redskin running back to have during his prime, it would be Brown.

Just to put it out there I voted for Art Monk.  Probably because he was my favorite Redskin growing up in the mid-80s.  And I don't think he gets HALF the amount of credit he should - everything was Jerry Rice this...Jerry Rice that.  Ok fine Rice was a good receiver no doubt...but Art Monk wasn't exactly sitting on his ass the entire time.   8)
