I feel the same. Pudge was brought in to provide that type of leadership. As a former catcher, I always thought it was my job to to act like a dick when teammates were slacking.
I think he was more brought in for two reasons.  Mainly to have some experience catching SS.  Secondarilly to mentor Flores.  The Flores thing hasn't developed quite as hoped, at least not yet.
