I take it we went out like nages?

Getting very little hits, especially with RISP, and then having a reliever suck it up, is always going out like nages to me.

Missed the entire game, love you Fox.

Other than being on Fox and Gorzo having a great outing, did I miss anything? Or should I just focus on tomorrow and winning the series?

Nothing important. Just look at my sentence summary. That's basically it. Werth, Zimmerman and Desmond can't hit.

I hope we're done with national tv for the season.

Same here...as I noted earlier in this thread, none of my teams ever seem to do well on national telly....

Right the second time...as Darrell Green once said, when you get beaten for a TD or long gainer you simply have to put it behind you and get on with the next play (or words to that effect).

Both Zimmerman and Werth need to be moved down in the batting order until they get right.  They should bat #6 and #7 or #7 and #8.

Seriously. Do something. They're getting owned out there.

The two of them are responsible for 11 of the 30 strikeout the team has had, this series.  That's awful.

At the very least, one of them shouldn't play tomorrow, just to avoid their strikeouts.

Look, Peavy has just had the Nats' number since the beginning of time. Bruney should have been clobbered.

Why would you want to start making major changes to a team that has been winning like crazy recently?  Makes no sense.

Even though weve been winning despite some pitiful numbers being put up but some guys in the lineup that are supposed to be key contributors? I dont think theres any doubt the lineup needs to be shaken up a bit. At the very least I think Werth needs to be taken out of the lead of spot.

When is the right time to make major changes, when we're .500 or when we're 5 games under .500 or 9 games under .500 again, like we were two weeks ago...by which time it will be too late?

My problem is that Werth and, particularly, Zimmerman look really bad, completely lost at the plate.  In the time I watched Werth with the Phillies, I never saw this. As for Zimmerman, I've watched almost every game he's played for the past five plus years and I don't think I've ever seen him this bad.

Further with Zimmerman, he's holding the possibility of leaving the team via free agency, like the Sword of Damocles, if we're not contending and the very first time the team has a chance to be competitive, THIS IS WHAT HE'S GIVING US!!!

Though I kinda like Gorzo, why would they?  Bruney shut us out tonight, proving that even terrible pitchers can have great starts.

Every healthy start he has had, he kicked butt. He strikes out a lot of guys. Bruney is just a choad monster.

I can't even venture to guess how much energy is used coming back 4 times to win a game in 14 innings.
Either way, Davey Johnson is coming and I'm sure he'll do what is necessary to get this team to where they should be.
