Why would they do that? Everyone goes through slumps...

He's a career .267 hitter with good power who costs like 8 million dollars and is currently blocking Mike Morse.

Marrero could take Nady's place on the big league club.

Nats should be buyers at the deadline. Not bargain-clearers.

Morse isn't really blocked though. He's playing in left. Is there a better player than LaRoache that would take his place or Morse place in left?

Moore has put up number in aaa that indicate he may be better in the long run - if someone offers something for LaRoche, slottin in Moore wouldn't be the worst idea

I think its safe to assume that Moore would not be as good as Laroche in the near future.

.316 .378 .673 in Syracuse this year, LaRoche's trends look pretty horrid, .212 .307 .435 over the last 28 days, .143 .225 .257over the last 14. The hot start is over, so hopefully he settle in around his career averages, but I don't think it's a stretch to think Moore could out perform him sooner rather than later

Lombo full time. Harper in LF, Werth in RF and a real CFer.

And I think Moore should be given a lot of playing time. I'm with HS and believe that Moore could out perform LaRoche

Agree that LaR should be traded if possible. Great glove and left-handed bat, but two young guys waiting and he's not hitting.  Too bad Marrero and Moore are both right-handed bats.  Maybe trade one of them instead.

Win this year. LaRoche helps this year. "The future is now", as George Allen said.

Curious thing: Wiley George announced that slogan about the same time Bob Short was packing to move the Nats to Texas.

I agree with lombo at full time -- only at second. Espinosa needs to be sent down.

Very good to see this. With DeRosa coming back, we can DFA Nady and basically choose between Marrero/Moore as backup 1B, though I guess Moore gets the advantage because he also plays LF. If nothing else, Marrero can be one more trade chip for us.

Even if he keeps hitting, wouldn't the Nats option him once his DL stint is up, and let him play at AAA?

If I was Marrero I would keep my bags packed after Moores break out day against Toronto.Moore displayed the "pop" that Marrero has never shown in the minors or bigs and he may become a trade piece if Moore continues hitting for power.

I would not mind 2 -3 years of Moore and Marrero riding a shuttle back and forth to syracuse as interchangeable bench pieces.  Marrero should play a little bit of left to increase his utility.  maybe even some 3d, where he broke in.  I know he is supposed to be bad defensively at places he has to run, but he could basically be a cheap corner backup for a contender and a nice piece of depth.

One thing I would like is Syracuse to be a warehouse for end of the roster, cheap parts for the bench and bullpen so that we can have more flexibility when there are hurting position players you don't want to DL, the bullpen is gassed, or we need a spot start.  Moore, Marrero, Brown, Severino, some of the catchers, maybe a few others would be nice depth.

How many options do they have left- I assume Moore still has a bunch, but Marrero seems like he's been around for a while

I think last year was the first time he was added to the roster, so I would think he has this year and next.
