Got hit pretty hard the other day. Gave up 6 runs in 1.2 IP, but only 3 were earned.

His last few starts he's had trouble getting through the early to middle innings. He gave up 2 runs his last start (Monday) but went just 4 IP, with 5 H, 2 BB, and 3 K.

With little Gio shelved for quite awhile and Renda looking like a UTIL guy Mooneyham might be our most promising 2012 draftee to watch next year.

I imagine he'll split 2013 between Hagerstown and Potomac, maybe if he does well he'll end up at Harrisburg by the end of the season.

went 6 IP 5 H 2 ER 2 BB  5 K on sept. 1.

Solid way to end his season.  still hoping he's the pitcher to be named later on our AFL team.

Our valiant Brett pitched 5 innings with 2 ER, and two more unearned, but in the end Michael Boyden took the loss as Auburn fell 5-4 to Tri-City.

Assigned to Hagerstown.

3 starts so far.  If you are an ERA guy, you have to love an 0.63 ERA over 14.1 innings.  WHIP is below one (.907).  So what's the but?  9 BB, 6 Ks.

More serious - is on the 7-day DL after his 4/17 start with arm discomfort, per NJ.

Quote
Mooneyham, 23, is 1-0 and second in the South Atlantic League with a 0.63 ERA in 14 1/3 innings. He has walked nine, struck out six and held hitters to a .089 batting average. At 6 feet 5, repeating his mechanics isn’t easy, but he was two outs away from having a chance at his second win when he asked for a trainer to come to the mound Wednesday.

Mooneyham “had some discomfort in his arm,” Nationals farm director Doug Harris wrote in a text message Wednesday. “We will be assessing the situation over the next few days.”

Harris called it “premature to speculate on specifics.”

2 hitter in 8 innings yesterday.  Now 6-3, 2.60 ERA, league batting .181 against him.
Needs to move up soon.

BA Hot Sheet today:

Brett Mooneyham, lhp, Nationals: Scouts would still like to see better command out of Mooneyham (witness his 4.5 BB/9), but he’s otherwise performed how a highly-drafted (third round, 2012) college pitcher should in low Class A. The 23-year-old lowered his ERA to 2.48 with a pair of dominant outings this week for Hagerstown, allowing one run in 15 innings of work while racking up a 14-1 strikeout-walk ratio.
