9 pitch AB for Flores and then that putz Reynolds throws it into the crowd.

I tell ya, people take Zim's defense for granted. Reynolds, Wright and others aren't half the defensive player Ryan is. The only one who is even close is Longoria.

If Zim were healthy, he'd be tied for first in fielding % with Glaus at .987.  Rolen, Longoria (as you mentioned) and Lowell are the only other ones higher than .970.  Glaus btw, has the most chances of those 5 as well.

Roger Bernadina = the New Nook Logan = The New Brandon Watson =The New Endy Chavez.

you had to think that Bowden couldn't go a single season without putting a no-hit, all-speed glorified pinch runner in Center Field.

How can you blame Bowden for that move? Bernadina was whooping ass in the minors. It hasn't translated, but it was the right move giving him a shot.

Burgess just blasted a 3-run HR. He's homered in 3 straight games now!

He's got 18 HRs and 56 RBIs on the season with a respectable .267 AVG.

Bergey is rolling.  We might only need 1 run for the win tonight.

Remember what happened to Bergmann last time he faced this team? I think we'll need 4 or 5 in this one.

Yeah, that's definitely respectable. The highest OPS on our team (active players) coming into this game was Flores (.774). :?

Bergmann's ERA has dipped back below 4. Time for him to serve up a couple of beach balls to get it back up.

It is tenth in the South Atlantic League too, he is fourth in strikeouts, though.

OT (from MLBTR):

Barry Bonds' agent Jeff Borris makes it clear that none of the 30 teams are interested in his client:

"I am not talking to any club about Barry Bonds, because they all made it very clear to me they are not interested in him. Every club.  I can't believe he doesn't have a job. No one has offered even the minimum salary. He made the All-Star team last year, and there's no reason to believe he wouldn't have a repeat performance in 2008, except for the conspiracy against him."

:?

eh.

I'm not blaming him, per se.

i'm just saying, that's what Bernadina is.

and you know, and I know, that Bernadina is only up here because Maxwell is hurt.

and incidentally, Brandon Watson tore up AAA too. he was batting like .340-something in AAA before we brought him up.

Anyone else surprised Longoria got the final vote into the AS game over Giambi? I guess Yankee haters outvoted the Yankee bandwagoners for once.

Yep. I thought for sure that Giambi and Wright would win the vote-in. Glad they didn't.

:icon_frown: at Longoria making an All Star team before Zim.

Awesome pitching.  Bergey is on pace to go 8 innings tonight.  Keep running up the count on Haren, and we can get him out of there by the 6th.

More like 7 innings... 56 pitches through 4, I doubt we keep him for 112 pitches.

I am sort of surprised. I voted for Roberts, but I am fine with Longoria making it.  The Rays needed more representation, anyway, with the way they have been playing thus far.
