Hope Purke pitches in a park with Pitch f/x installed. Would love to get a look at his velocity.

I had a dream that we traded him for Matt Kemp and then Kemp put up a season like Werth's 2011.

Which could easily happen if he ever got back with Rihanna.

You could get your wish if he pitches tomorrow or next Friday.  Surprise and Peoria are the two stadiums with pitch f/x.

Harper is down to .083, Trout is batting a whopping .217.  It's ugly so far for the big name Scorpions.

Gerrit Cole made his debut today.  He hit 100 MPH, but unfortunately for him, he got hit.

2.1, 3H, 3ER, 1BB, 2Ks

http://www.masnsports.com/byron_kerr/2011/10/prospect-purke-in-arizona-to-work-out-of-bullpen-with-scottsdale.html

Kerr says that Purke will be working out of the pen for Scottsdale.  According to Doug Harris, Purke is hitting 92-93 with his fastball right now.

Hope that's true. We all know how honest they were about Maya's velocity.

Matt Purke:

- 2.0 IP, 38 pitches for 20 strikes
- 1 H, 1 BB, 1 ER
- One strikeout that came on a called strike (91 MPH fastball)
- He threw a combo of fastballs, changeups, and sliders
- The fastball ranged from 88-92 MPH

His endurance probably isn't that great and this is the first taste of pro ball he has gotten besides instructs.  Overall, not a bad debut for him.

that's freaking awesome.  Now let's see if he makes his next scheduled start or if they send him to see Dr. Andrews. :)

So far tonight Norris is 0-2 with a SO, but Harper is 2-2, 2B, HR, 2RBIs. It looks like we won't have to DFA Bryce  :mg:.

Solis so far has faced 18 batters (67 pitches, only 37 strikes) in 3.0 IP, allowing 4 H, 4 ER, 4 BB, 4 SO, 1 HR.  Not exactly stellar, but I'm happy to see Harper raking again.

Harper continues his string of starting cold.  If this holds, he'll come up in July, go 1-24, and we'll all be calling for him to be DFAd.

It would be interesting to look up the percentage of PAs that he's walked, homered or struck out.

I understand from Nats Insider that Rendon will play in the AFL soon. Hope it's true. Harper not in the lineup today BTW.

Do you have a link?  I couldn't find this reference.  The last mention of him I've seen was last week in an article by Amy Shipley that made it sound like he probably would not be making an appearance in Arizona.

Quote
Though the Nationals discussed sending Rendon to the Arizona Fall League — a more prestigious assignment than instructional league — it was decided that the slow pace in Florida would put Rendon in a better position to make an impact in spring training, Harris said.

“We had some initial conversations [about the Arizona Fall League], but in the end we really felt united in the fact that he hadn’t played a lot of baseball,” Harris said. “It would not be a real strong, intelligent decision to put him in an advanced league when he hasn’t played since May.”
