I'm level 12 now. I saw the Graybeards when I was level 8 or 9. It was a pain in the ass to find them. I wondered all over those mountains. LOL!

I was checking out all the different skill perks on the wiki today and am already imagining how I'm going to build my next character

Yea I'm a level 6 right now (no time to play...fffffuuuuuuuu) but I haven't given much thought to how I'm building my character. Next play-through will be much more polished as I learn more. Loving the game. Spent 30 minutes talking about the game with my brother and at no point did we talk about the same quest (other than the main quest). Completely different stories based on how we each play. Amazing.

The lack of minifigs hurts the realism.

Man, the amount of variety in caves/dungeons/forts/etc. is such a breath of fresh air after the cookie-cutter dungeons in Oblivion.  Just entered a cave that turned out to be basically an indoor wildlife preserve - bears, wolves hunting deer, rabbits, trees, sky overhead.

On a related note, have I mentioned how useful summon flame atronach is?  Especailly the part where they explode when they die.

I don't have flame atronach yet. I might have to pick it up and give it a try. Did you get it from wizard in Dragonsreach?

Pretty sure, yeah, though I've seen it pop up a couple of other places as my level has gotten higher.  It's basically like having a second person to cast firebolt for you, except they have unlimited mana and much better aim.  If you have that and the "impact" perk (which causes most enemies to stagger when hit by a dual-cast spell), you can fairly easily keep most enemies from ever getting anywhere near you.

Farengar in Dragonsreach has it.

I doing the cross country thing now. I'm going from Whiterun to the far western border to complete a quest. I started the trek last night and as of now, I'm about halfway there. I'm currently hanging out in Dawnstar. I keep getting sidetracked on other quests.

Ha! I now have the skull of corruption. It's a staff that does 20 damage, which increases to 50 if powered with dreams from sleeping people.  :)

It's almost time for my cheap ass to break out some gold and buy a house. I have so much crap on here and I need somewhere to store it.

My hand is f'd up from too much mouse usage I think

As far as the mage build goes, there are a few possibilities.
A)  My game was some how messed up
B)  Bretons make crappy mages
C)  Only Dunmer make good mages

Because I had a hell of a time doing anything on a Breton mage, but rerolling a Dunmer one and I've had an easy time.

Also, I think I've noticed something that may be a bug.  The flames spell does X damage (forget the exact number) and it does MORE damage to enemies that are on fire.  It's a stream type spell, and if you just go full out dual cast, it takes a LONG time to kill anything.  BUT if you do bursts, their health drops WAY faster.  I don't know if it's intended or a bug, but it seems as if it doesn't proc the extra damage for an enemy being on fire if you just continually spray fire in their faces, where as with the initial burst, they are on fire and and subsequent bursts, you get the dps buff.

Wow, talk about incredible attention to detail

[very minor spoiler warning]

Quote
I used to give gold to a fella named Brenuin in Whiterun, he'd thank me and I would run off. On this faithful day however, I was levelling up my Illusion skill and casted 'Fury' on Brenuin (which makes the target attack everyone in sight), without realizing who it was. He rolled up to the nearest guard and started beating him, a few seconds later Brenuin was slashed to death by the guards, and had two arrows stuck in his chest and face. At the time, I thought it was funny.

Until about one ingame-day later. A courier ran up to me and said he had a a letter and some gold for me, I was confused, and proceeded to read the letter. It was a Letter of Inheritence which came with 90 gold coins. It turns out Brenuin didn't forget about me, and left me all that he owned. I'll be honest, that must have been the first time I felt true remorse over a game character's death, and he wasn't even a major character.

It is not a multiplayer game unfortunately.

Being single-player is a very fundamental part of what makes TES games what they are.  There's no possible way it could ever translate into a multiplayer game without losing something in the process.  That's not to say it couldn't be successful or that it might not eventually happen - hell i'd probably even buy and play it - but it wouldn't be the same.

Besides, when you ship 7 million copies in the first week, you can afford to be a single player franchise.

For now, I'll take your word for it Chief. It is definately a game on my list. I haven't tried any of them yet as I have been playing MMOG with distant friends but this game looks so amazing I just have to try it. Social interaction be dammned.

Or you should've gone to the Mages college in Winterhold like I told you and trained your destruction skill, which is exactly what you've done with your new character ;)

Like I said, I'd almost certainly give an Elder Scrolls MMO a shot, but I don't think it would work very well.  Now if you did something more akin to Diablo where it's only multiplayer games of 2, maybe 4 people, then that could work perhaps.

At no one in particular:

After reading the wiki page on Werewolves in Skyrim, I definitely think I'm going to become one at some point.  Among the cooler things they can do:

-Eat people's heads
-chokeslam people
-commit crimes without a bounty
-running leap attack w/ instakill
-run faster than a horse
-roar and scare everything away

RE: Nathan's different builds:

Looking at the way race bonuses are constructed in Skyrim, it doesn't look like Bretons are really intended to be directly involved in combat.  They have bonuses for every magical skill EXCEPT destruction, including a big one for Conjuration.

I still think you could make a decent Mage with one, but if you got off to a slow start and didn't train, I can see where it would be an uphill battle, especially with a physically weak race.

Skyrim continues to impress me with its depth - you can make your own arrows using firewood that you chop.
