I'm curious about this new comer to the organization.  He's listed as a 2B, but seeing more playing time at 1st and 3rd.  He's doing very well, stats wise.  I suspect he was brought in to take 1B Brad Eldred's spot (DL) I'm just not sure what sort of prospect he is because he's got ideal height/size for a 1B, he's kickin' butt (for the most part) and no one is talking about him.

I think if given a chance, he ought to be brought up for a cup of coffee to see if he could take 1B until Marrerro gets the call up either in late 2010 or 2011.  Is Belliard really that much better than Morse?

Thoughts on Morse?

Originally came up as a SS but got pushed aside with injuries and a PED suspension (a steroid to help rebuild muscle after an injury).  Gradually passed in the organization by Betancourt and prospects, so was shifted to the outfield and used also as a utility infielder. Had several sups of coffee.  27.  Maybe he could be a big 2d baseman if we had a good glove at 1st and SS, which we don't.

Kilgore says that Morse has to join the club by 5/17 or be optioned.

So who goes to make room for him?  Slaten?

Most likely.  I like his versatility (okay I like his speed and defense as a late innings defensive replacement/pinch runner on a 40-man roster), but he is probably the first to go.  It sounds like he's a good clubhouse guy, I know Ladson wrote about that too.

Morse hit another bomb tonight, excited to have him back up and log some games in RF.

Riggleman seems to like him as a pinch runner, I guess if he goes that role goes to Harris or Gonzales.
