San Francisco offered Tim Lincecum four years, $80 million. That's absurd. Eight years, $200 million is more like it.

Red Sox get Bailey from Oakland per Olney.
Looks like Josh Reddick to Oakland.

REst of the deal involves the Sox getting Ryan Sweeney and the As getting a 19 year old lottery ticket, Raul Alcantara, and a 1b prospect, Miles Head.  For the coolness of the name alone, the As make out well.

Marlins install fish tanks at their new ballpark.

I'm sure this will look great.

Where the heck does Madson go now after the Red Sox trade?

Maybe the Yankees need a $30 million setup-setup guy.

Seems like a pretty good trade for both teams. Bailey is a good closer but not needed in Oakland and the A's get an OF who can play now and two seemingly solid prospects. Ryan Sweeney is solid and should do well as a 4th OF in Boston.

Fishtanks behind home plate, huh?  I hope HRod uncorks a wild one and shatters it.  That'd be sweet.  I'm sure they've thought of that though...

The huge number of gallons of water already exert enormous pressure on the glass, no? It'll be thick glass.

so who's left for Madson?  I'd still like to see us add him to our pen, we're a little thin once you get past the top three.

Angels could used a closer to slide Walden back to set up.  Jays if they want to push Santos back to set up.  I'm not sure which AL and NL central quasi-contending teams could use a closer.   He'd be an upgrade over Thornton, but it is hard for me to see the sense in dealing Santos and signing a more expensive replacement.  Otherwise, maybe a high one year deal to allow him to reenter the market next year?

Carlos Quinten to the Padres

Can't hurt.  The Padres did not have single player with 10 or more home runs last season.

wow is that going to be a fun team to watch this year (kind of like an impending wreck that you can't turn away from).  Maybe they can add Milton Bradley and Manny Ramirez, then teach N. Suh how to play baseball?

from MLBTR: The trade is still pending physicals. Levine says the Cubs will pay $18MM of Zambrano's $15MM salary.

maybe not, given the headache he brings to the team I can see the Marlins wanting an extra $3 million to take him off their hands. :)

Plus, they have Ozzie Guillien as manager. When that team melts down, it will really melt down.

MLBFakeRumors Carlos Zambrano has been suspended after celebrating trade to #Marlins by body slamming 3B Hanley Ramirez into stack of water coolers.
