This time last year he was the type of player you'd dislike if on another team, and maybe even on our team. But now he seems like he's grown up and getting strong mentoring.

Now he's the type of player you like no matter what team he's on. I definitely have friends who dislike the Nationals but think Bryce Harper is amazing.

In Boston he was getting some cheers. Those could be some loud Nats fans/Boston Haters. But whatever..... he took the Hammels plunk and said all the right things. ESPN this morning they had a Harper/Trout debate. I couldn't hear it at the gym but was reading the CC. The "expert" picked Trout because he met the kid and his family, and hadn't with Harper. Really? That's how you picked? Well, I haven't met this guys family, so that makes him a bad analyst.

Rosenthal was on The Sports Fix this afternoon.

Eff Rosenthal. I will never forgive him for defending Hamels after hit drilled Harper.

This has probably been brought up in this thread more than once but Harper has such an awkward looking run. It gets the job done (and done well) but his arms seem to be flailing every time he runs. But it shows he runs hard, which is totally fine with me.

When he's really hauling, he stares up like a little kid running. Maybe that's why his helmet has a hard time staying on.

Here's one thing I do now about Bryce. I run to the TV set whenever he gets up. Only guy I can think of who had that effect on me was Strawberry when I lived in NYC in the mid-'80's and Reggie Jackson when I was a kid. You just want to see something incredible happen.

But I'm a Harper fanboi. What do I know.

This. I make it a point to be around a TV for a Harper at bat. Even if we're up by 5.

Something I believe I will never forget is the sight of him sliding into home after Bernadina drove him in against Boston with 2 out in the ninth.  It wasn't just the fact that he scored the go-ahead run, it was dust he raised with his spikes when he probably didn't even have to slide!  If I were to put one baseball photo on my rec room wall right now, that would be the one. Purely poetic.

If i worked at 'The Onion' my next story would be titled:

'Hanely Ramirez pushes for McCarver to be new skipper'.

Under Personalized Picture, click on Specify avatar by URL.

You should be able to right-click on any of these pictures, then click on Properties to get the http address. (Some sites won't let you copy them, but all of these pictures do, sincw I posted them here.)

Copy that http address, and then paste it into that Specify avatar by URL box.

At the bottom right of the WNFF page, click on Change Profile to save that change.

(I haven't done this since 2005.)

Hey Calsgr8, did you catch any flack from fans around you for cheering for the Nats?

Bryce Harper is currently wOBA'ing .399.

Mike Trout's wOBA last season was .303. Un-freaking-believable.

Bryce Harper is a member of the The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  Mormons don't smoke or drink alcohol.
