I need someone to take me under their wing and show me the ropes. I've never played H2H or daily roster changes before, and the only other time I've even played fantasy BB at all was several years ago.
We ran the
live draft too early last year, but now we'll know the starting rosters for each team. You want to
avoid having bench players on your roster. Players who are part of a
platoon are also questionable.
Why? You're going to have days without a full roster, (but don't worry, your weekly opponents will likely have the same problem.) Thursdays are often travel days and a lot of teams get Mondays off. By using bench or platoon players, you'll have even more open, unproductive slots. I did have Nix for an extended time last year, for the home runs he hit out of the park.
You only get 2 DL slots, so there's a good chance they'll get filled, and you'll be forced to use bench slots for quality players who are injured.
You should look at your roster before the games start. ESPN puts a big
red box next to a player who is not going to start. You want to replace him with someone from your
bench, if you can. But you can't always be sure if someone in a
west coast game is going to play either. A player getting a day off sometimes will
pinch hit anyway.
If your player has been stinking and keeps getting benched, you'll start looking to dump him and get a
free agent or make a
trade with another manager. That's the fun of fantasy - finding gems to improve your lineup.
In the
Live Draft, you can have it display based on ESPN's
Projected 2012 Results or the
2011 Actual Results, or toggle back and forth. I do NOT put much stock in the so-called experts who almost always overrate rookies.
