Now that I think about it, Stammen probably won't get $1.8M as a free agent. They probably offered a lower deal with incentives, and Stammen said no.
Of course we don't know and probably never will, but if they had offered him 1.8, do you think he would have accepted?

I think he still would've went to arbitration, since that was his floor anyways. Given the way Rizzo gets prissy about arbitration, that's probably why he just let him go.

Arbitration apparently was never on the table, because if he had been offered arbitration he might have won, and then the Nats would be hit for a good bit more than the 1.8.  So I assume Rizzo offered his some figure close to 1.8.  Could have been 1.8, could have been less than 1.8, or it might have even been slightly more than 1.8, but Rizzo didn't want to risk arbitration.   I'd just like to know what that figure was so we would know how much or how little they valued him.

Anyone who listens to XM MLB later, let us know what Bowden has to say about this.

Bowden's off the afternoon show effective this week. Brad Lidge will take over two days a week, Cliff Floyd the other three. JimBo's still doing Sunday mornings, plus Roundtrip on Monday and Tuesday nights now.

He also joins Fridays on Power Alley from 10-1 EST.

Oh, right. I forgot that one. Speaking of Power Alley, local broadcaster Mike Ferrin is leaving XM to go to the D-backs broadcasting team.

I wonder if they will keep him on? My guess is that the DBacks gig is full time now and Bowden and Duquette will take the Power Alley slot.

Well, when you are in last year of arbitration with Strasburg, Storen, and Ramos, that's going to be expensive.
