The Nationals have hired former Seattle Mariners manager John McLaren as Jim Riggleman's bench coach. (This was told to me by a source outside the organization and confirmed by a source within the organization.) This will be a reversal of the roles the men held in 2008, when Riggleman served as McLaren's bench coach, until McLaren was fired in June, with Riggleman taking over on an interim basis.
We're not going to turn into the ex-Mariners club now are we?
If that means we're getting Nolasco, I'd be ok with that.
Mariners...not Marlins. But I'd be ok with Nolasco regardless.
Duh, brain fart you didn't quote me, so I could pull a dick move and delete my post
Fixed.;D
haha is that better than ex-reds? we should go after griffey hey if we had alex rodriguez i wouldn't complain.
The Nationals will soon announce that John McLaren will be Jim Riggleman's bench coach and they have retained Rick Eckstein, Pat Listach and Steve McCatty as the hitting coach, third-base coach and pitching coach, respectively, according to a baseball source.McLaren is best known for managing the Mariners for parts of the 2007 and '08 seasons. Riggleman was his bench coach in '08. McLaren was also on Lou Piniella's coaching staffs when both were with the Reds, Mariners and Devil Rays.Riggleman and general manager Mike Rizzo were not available for comment. As for Eckstein, Listach and McCatty, they will return for a second season with Washington. Under Eckstein, the Nationals ranked ninth in batting average (.258), while hitting 156 home runs and 685 RBIs.Listach, who managed in the Cubs' Minor League system for several years, will continue to serve as infield instructor.McCatty replaced Randy St. Claire in May and had a great relationship with the young pitchers such as John Lannan and Craig Stammen. McCatty is looking improve a pitching staff which held a National League-worst 5.00 ERA.The Nationals are looking to hire a first-base coach and a bullpen coach. Marquis Grissom and Randy Knorr are not returning to the club. Knorr will be the manager of Double-A Harrisburg and Grissom has been offered a job to be the hitting coach at Triple-A Syracuse.
Glad to hear Eckstein is back. The rest of the guys, meh
Pretty much exactly how I feel.
No love for McCatty? I thought he did a very decent job.
I am not sold on McCatty. He seems decent but I don't know if he's that great.I like Listach and Eckstein though.

Didn't people say the same thing about St. Claire for years? He was lauded as a pitching genius and one of the best but those who knew anything at all knew he was a fraud.
why does Lenny Harris take all of the heat regarding our anemic offense, but St. Claire doesn't take any grief for our pitching staffs regression? I am not a St. Claire hater, but i don't understand the protection he gets on this board.
Me neither. St. Claire has some serious work to do.You get your head chopped off if you criticize St. Claire on these boards.
terrible pitch. FIRE St. Claire!
