Funny, I thought he played for the Nats. Everyone calls his name when the SS bobbles a ball.

If there were a way to screw up an outfield alignment, Dayton Moore would manage to do it.  How on earth do you put the guy with the better arm in center and the guy with better range in right?

Quote
While introducing newcomer Rick Ankiel on Monday, general manager Dayton Moore said the injury-prone Guillen would be replaced in right field by David DeJesus, last year's left fielder. Ankiel will play center and Scott Podsednik, another newcomer, will be in left.

A female friend of mine last night: "So what I'm wondering is, will they allow home run records to stand if the guys who set them play in the new Yankees Stadium? Because I feel like that stadium should count as cheating."

Needless to say, a proposal ensued and we are now planning on getting married.

Damn, that's pretty quick, don't you think?    I mean, did you even find out where she stands on the DH?

Oh, crap.

Well, she's an Astros fan, so I assume she prefers NL ball.

What would you like from the Nats, Giants?  :icon_mrgreen:

Quote
Talks about a two-year contract between the Giants and two-time defending Cy Young Award winner Tim Lincecum have not been going well according to CSNBayArea.com's Mychael Urban. In fact, Urban says it would be more accurate to call the negotiations "dismissals" rather than "discussions," because the righty's camp has rejected every one of the team's proposals.

SI.com's Jon Heyman states the obvious and says that the two sides are likely headed to an arbitration hearing later this month, however he adds that this is something that likely never would have happened under Peter Magowan's watch. Magowan stepped down as the team's managing partner after the 2008 season, and had historically taken care of his star players.

Lincecum filed for $13MM in his first year of arbitration eligibility, while the team countered with just $8MM. He's going to set a new salary record for a first year eligible pitcher regardless of the outcome, but it's worth noting that Lincecum's average fastball velocity dropped from 94.1-mph in 2008 to 92.4-mph last season, so perhaps the club has some concerns about his long-term durability.

They can have anyone but the Zimmermen(n) or Stras.

Disagree. JZ is definitely available to get Lincecum in my book.

Hate to say it since I like JZ, but he's exactly the type of player I would deal for Lincecum.  He has just enough value, yet it's not some huge dagger if the Nats lose him.

I would give them both if we could get a long term deal. He's the best case scenerio for either of them, the odds of even one of them being as good is very low.

The odds of stras being good are very low?  I disagree thoroughly.  The odds of stras being good are quite high, way past 50%.

The odds of him being very good are high, the odds of Strass winning two cy youngs in his first two seasons are very low. You can easily argue that Lincecum is the best player in baseball- expecting a guy who has never even pitched in the majors to be that is a stretch.

i get what Halfsmokes is saying.

Lincecum is what Strasburg becomes if everything goes according to plan with no bumps in the road.

Ah, I misread your post, I thought you said "good", not "as good" as Lincecum.  Agreed.
