Bowie leads the last-place Nationals (26-37) into Camden Yards on Tuesday night to begin a three-game series against the struggling Baltimore Orioles  (29-34).

The left-hander was 0-2 with a 3.71 ERA and blew his only save opportunity this season in 20 relief appearances. Manager Manny Acta then pressed Bowie (2-2, 3.79 ERA) into a starting role after Washington placed John Patterson , Shawn Hill and Jason Bergmann on the disabled list last month.

Dmitri Young has three hits in five career at-bats against Daniel Cabrera (5-6, 4.70), who will try end his recent inconsistency for Baltimore. The right-hander has alternated losses and wins in his last four outings, and will be looking to win consecutive starts for just the second time this season.

Against Seattle on Tuesday, he yielded four runs and seven hits over eight innings of a 9-5 victory that snapped the Orioles' five-game skid.

In case anyone was wondering...

Gameday Thread Standings
2k6nats............20-31
sportsfan882.....2-0
Kenz aFan.........2-0
spidernat..........1-0
Air Zimmerman...1-1
nats2playoffs.....0-1
kimnat..............0-1
PC...................0-1
Erica's Nats.......0-2

When 2k6nats doesn't do the thread, the Nationals are 6-6...Erica's Nats is officially banned from making further threads (just kidding)...2k6nats' longest streak of threads was 10, going from May 6th to May 17th...the Nationals are 9-10 after a 2k6nats streak hits 4 games...the Chief's lone thread was deleted because of unnecessarity...the Nationals lost that game...the average thread that 2k6nats starts has 292 replies...when someone else does the threads, the threads average 223

Chief's Note: 2k6, both of my aborted game threads were wins...  Nationals @ Phillies Game 3 on April 26th, and Nationals @ Braves Game 3 on April 12th.  You stand corrected ;)

Guzman leading off. That's certainly going underreported. I hope the move of Lopez out of the number one spot sticks.

If I've ever seen a more interesting and yet completely meaningless set of stats, I can't recall!

By the way, I thought my "lone" thread was merged with yours, not deleted?

EDIT - it was deleted, but that game was a win, as was the other game thread I started and deleted in deference to yours ;)

Whew, glad it's not raining in Baltimore because it is awful here at my house.  Bad thunderstorm with lots of lightning

Bill Ladson just had a mailbag where he said that Felipe should be moved out of the leadoff spot.

Smart Micah, let's walk the lead-off hitter.  That always turns out great
