Apparently people didn't like Carol Marcus's changing scene and thought it was gratuitous
I disagree. Yeah, it was fanservice for sure, but it was also a character moment for Kirk. It helped to further the concept of Kirk's romantic/sexual interest in her, which will likely factor in to the plot of future films. In other words, it had a point beyond boobs.

Also, in The Wrath of Khan, we know we had "relations" with her early in his career.  there is quite a bit of fan service in the movie.

All set up for a 7th Fast and Furious movie. Afterwards, they will probably do an 8th that consists of nothing but clips of the previous 7

Along the same lines, "It's Kind of a Funny Story" is a similar and good movie  ...  IMO.

Glad you seemed to like it Nathan.

To sum it up, I'd have to say it was a good movie, but just like the first of the reboot, not really a good Star Trek movie if that makes sense.

Won't be seeing that one. I liked Drive well enough, but thought the violence was over the top. Really, just two scenes.

Saw an advanced screening of Only God Knows Why.  Wow.  Makes Drive look like a Disney movie.  Gosling is the man.  Great movie.

Man of Steel

Oh boy. This will be unpopular.

A plodding, albeit well acted first act, decent enough second act... Followed by an off the rails fall into garbage town third act.

I seriously though the fight in the climax was from The Matrix Revolution. The movie stopped being about Superman and became two video game avatars fighting around a CGI city.

Slow in the wrong places, too chaotic in others.

Mostly agree with Linty on Man of Steel. First third was very good, second third was kinda generic superhero movie, last third was something of a mess. The 60 percent rating it has on Rotten Tomatoes is pretty accurate IMO.

listen. you go see a Superman movie for one reason and one reason only: to see people get kicked, punched,  thrown, or otherwise projected through buildings in the most awesomest ways imaginable.

man of steel delivered that in spades.

also, every fight in which both people can fly is going to automatically remind people of The Matrix. they were the first ones to do a midair one-on-one fight correctly.

anyway, to each his own i guess. i enjoyed it.
