If he can get it, it's well deserved. It'd be nice for him to have the opportunity to manage a team.

Think Riggleman. If we all think Riggle...all at once...it will happen! (Maybe????)

It's the Astros. Is the word 'team' appropriate?

I get the impression Randy Knorr is being groomed as a successor ...

Just out of curiosity, I know around the boards people have bandied about that Bo and Randy have potential as managers. How would you all know that? (not judging you, just curious) What sorts of things do people look for when evaluating a potential manager? It's not like Bo's skills as a 3B coach are really applicable to managing from the dugout.

Randy was a manager in the Nats minor league system and is now with the Big Club. Nats Brass sing his praises all the time.

Don't know about Bo Porter

Though Bo as our manager will be nice, but will he wait long enough for Davey to resign?

Bo has fire, as evidenced by the Cubs series.

Don't know about Bo Porter
There's a sense around baseball that he's a really smart guy and a good candidate. Read this interview with him.

“When people ask what kind of manager I’ll be, I always tell them, ‘Give me a roster and then I’ll tell you how I’m going to manage that ball club.’ You can say you’re going to be an aggressive manager and that we’re going to steal bases and hit-and-run, but if you have six guys in your lineup that can hit 25 home runs, it’s probably not a good idea to take too many chances of giving away outs. Conversely, if you have a team that doesn’t have a lot of power — but you do have guys who put the ball in play — you can put runners in motion.

“You want to take advantage of the ability that your players have. How you manage shouldn’t be etched in stone. You have to play to your strengths and at the same time you have to look at your opponent. If there are things the other team doesn’t do well, you want to put your players in a position to take advantage of that. A big part of this game is recognizing advantages, whether you do that with data or with your own eyes.”

Just have a reporter ask these guys their thoughts on bunting and relievers/saves and we'll have a pretty good idea.

I read the interview. A very sharp guy. Of course, I hope Davey manages forever, but...

i want Bo to be our manager of the future.  Davey's what 70?  He is the oldest manager in the bigs and probably won't do it much longer.  We could replace him with Bo and have davey go back to working in the FO.

Worth mentioning, however, that Porter lives in Houston.

Why are they conducting interviews in season? I don't understand that. Why not wait until after the season? Luhnow is a donk.

I think there is some weird rule about not talking to coaches of teams in the playoffs.  maybe it is only during off days with team permission or something like that. Maybe there is no restriction before the season ends, and because it is a promotion, the Nats can't block it.
