I am literally practicing my finger guns for tonight.  I started with the fast pop shots but now I'm going with the more deliberate jab, point, and shoot motions.

So sayeth the spider from the locked Game 2 thread, "Yeah stay the freak out all season long and into the playoffs.  :)"

Love you too brother.  :P     Look if this crap works and we win 10 in a row, you'll be on the bandwagon proselytizing my genius.

Capital Weather Gang's NatCast has: 'Sunday night baseball just a tad on the cool side. A jacket is advisable, especially for the later innings', temperatures in mid-60's at first pitch, low 60's by ninth inning, 10% chance of rain.

MORE IMPORTANT THOUGH FOR THOSE WHO USE METRO:

This is the final full day of the major track-work - and apparently there has also been no change in the plans not to add extra trains if the match runs late - at least we haven't gotten any E-mails from the Nats indicating any changes, and nothing on the Metro site indicating same either.

Last trains tonight, per Metro site:

FROM NAVY YARD:
Northbound (to Greenbelt): 23.39 [site warns 'Red line transfer not possible']
Southbound (to Branch Avenue): 00.17

FROM GALLERY PLACE
Red Line eastbound (to Glenmont): 00.08
Red Line westbound (to Shady Grove): 00.02

FROM L'ENFANT PLAZA
Blue line eastbound (to Largo): 00.11
Orange line eastbound (to New Carrollton): 00.11
Orange line westbound (to Vienna): 23.59
Yellow line southbound (to Huntington): exactly midnight

FROM ARCHIVES [a favourite alternative of mine for post-baseball Yelloe Line transfers]
Yellow line southbound (to Huntington): 23.58

Full list of Metrorail stations (click a station to find out last trains from that station): http://www.wmata.com/rail/stations.cfm

---

Bear in mind, too, that trains don't run as often Sundays to begin with - one may want to budget a bit more time getting there/back as it is.

Metro IS a massive fail.  Just wait until Labor Day weekend when they plan to shut down the Green Line from Waterfront to Archives (the segment immediately north of Navy Yard, cutting Navy Yard off from the rest of the system) and the Nats have four home games versus the Cardinals and Cubs.

so i played MLB2K12 (my xbox worked) and JZ went 8 IP, 4 H, ER, 8 K ... he was going for a CG, i pulled him after giving up leadoff single (nats up 1-0) ... drew storen came in blew the lead, then gave up another run of his own (lol @ throwing error from espinosa at 2B to 1B - which would never happen) ... nats trailing 2-1, bryce first pitch led off the bottom 9th with game tying homer.

went to the 12th, where jayson werth hit a monster shot walkoff and the guys mobbed him at home plate.  a sign of things to come tonight?

:w: nats 3-2

No, not yet. Not quite a massive fail. It's failing. But, supposedly, it's going to get better.

Yesterday was the first Nationals game I missed all season, and it was the one where the offense not only showed up, but rocked the Follies. Feels bad man.

I just hope the offense didn't use up all it had last night. And of course JZ is pitching, which means they'll probably put pressure on Zimmermann to throw a shutout to qualify for a win.

So for those of us in the Nats market, there won't be any way to watch the ESPN broadcast tonight, correct?  I mean I already know the answer is "yes**" but I was just wondering if there are any crazy loopholes or workarounds.  Just curious to see what kind of on-air treatment we get from the ESPN crew.

Yes the game is only on ESPN.

For National TV games, there are no blackouts. MASN will not be broadcasting this game.

It's a shame that the Nationals are on national television so infrequently that we don't know this.  I'll bet any Yankees fan knows that ESPN games aren't on YES, Red Sox fan games not on NESN, Phillies fan games not on CSN.

I'm cruising stubhub, waiting for the price of the ~400 remaining tickets to tonight's game to bottom out.

Apparently in Radioland there is still a choice - the ESPN Sunday Night Baseball crew or Charlie & Dave (according to both the Post and the AM-980 site).
