DeRosa to the Blue Jays on a 1 year deal, that should put them over the top. :)

least surprising story of 2013
disapppointing, though.  Only drugs and traffic charges, and the drug was only pot.  He should see if he can get a AAA contract with the Mariners or the Rockies.  :pimp:

He's gotta get away from that ex of his.  He'll find plenty of replacements in Japan, I'm sure...

A bit of a caution on Ryan Zimmerman and Anthony Rendon (and Mikey Mo).  Sometimes being injury prone really is and not just bad luck that is unlikely to be repeated.  It does seem with Nick that his injuries really cascaded after The Collision.  Most likely the leg injury had nothing to do with his wrist, but it seemed that he had a higher likelihood of breaking something than most people.

A nice send off to Nick Johnson on Deadspin.

http://deadspin.com/5979734/nick-johnson-the-nearly-perfect-baseball-player-retires

he could have been sean casey.

Nick Johnson was a "scrappy" player who "failed to realize his potential"..

I followed the Yankees and never understood why they traded Nick Johnson to Montreal...of course, nobody understood why Steinbrenner signed Jason Giambi to "play" 1B rather than let Nick take over.

(I was happy to see Big Nick move to Washington. Good for our side).

Never understood why they traded Johnson to Miami for that minor league pitcher...Johnson was not hitting home runs, but his average was about .290 and he was their only player with more walks than K's. Late season in 2009 was a sad time.

Johnson was an expiring contract who wasn't going to be retained because they wanted to make room for Dunn at first base, so they got something for Johnson rather than letting him walk and getting nothing.
