Just want to say that the Big Ten is the most overrated conference in all of sports.

...  and that's almost every sport.

Can't agree with that.  It's not always the prettiest to watch, but they're almost always right in the mix in basketball.

I was brought up on the Big Ten (basketball and football).    It's not the Big Ten isn't tough, they're over rated based on the pre-season expectations (particularly in the last 15 years or so).    That goes to Bowl games and the Final Four.   I do think Nebraska brings a bit of swagger to the football side.

I get what your saying but I just don't think the Big Ten underachieves on basketball.  They pretty consistently get multiple teams to the sweet 16, which I think is a good indicator of the strength of a conference.  Anything past that is more of a commentary on the individual team because it becomes such a crap shoot from there.

I would call elite 8 a good barometer since you've probably had to beat at least one decent team to get there- sweet 16 can be beating some less than stellar schools especially if you have a good seed

Either way, the Big Ten would perform pretty well in that comparison, too, most years.

Disclaimer  ...  I go back to Jerry Lucas, etc. at OSU.

Outside of Michigan State and perhaps Wisconsin, the Big Ten doesn't strike fear   ...  IMHO

Ohio State should be pretty good this year under Urban "I'm gonna take time off to be with my family nah actually I'm gonna come back and pretend like I'm not the fakest dude on the planet" Meyer.

In basketball, Ohio St. definitely does.  And there's usually a third team that rotates through that 4th spot, with Indiana looking like they're back, or close to it, that's a solid, solid top 4.

If we're talking football, this year, Michigan St. is good, but not elite, Ohio St. will be soon, maybe even by the end of the year.

I meant basketball with my comment.   I do see OSU coming back with Urban and I like that.   I've always been an OSU fan.   Spinman knows what I'm sayin'.   :)

I think he'll be a lot better than yesterday obviously, but some Maryland fans worshipped the ground he walked on and blamed every one of his struggles on Edsall despite the fact that he was beyond terrible in his decision-making and throwing ability last season. I had no problem with him transferring.

edsall deserves a lot of blame from last year.  they were awful.

but i'm glad some of the guys that didn't want to be a terp are gone.  although i would love to still have DOB a Terp still.

oh well go get 'em hills.

Wouldn't be a spidernat post without the phrase "taking it in the ass" somewhere in there.

1 point loss with a shanked FG?  Not exactly destroyed. Rooting against them is just childish.

The kids on the team had nothing to do with Sandusky - pretending like rooting against a football team proves that you hate child abuse more than anyone else is an immature pissing contest.

It's not in the Bible, it's in the Bhagavad Gita.

i'm not even talking about the sandusky scandal ... there's plenty of reason to dislike the team/school/etc for other reasons man.
