Tony Armas (1-2, 2.70)
Armas will face the Cardinals for the fifth time in his career. He is 0-2 with a 5.75 ERA against them. In his last start, Armas blanked Atlanta for 6 1/3 innings. He gave up three hits, struck out five batters, walked two and lowered his ERA from 3.71 to 2.70, indicating that his shoulder problems are a thing of the past.

Jason Marquis (3-1, 3.55)
After winning his first three decisions, Marquis was roughed up in his fourth start. The right-hander was tagged for seven runs (four earned) on seven hits in six-plus innings of work against the Cubs on Sunday. He surrendered home runs to Jacque Jones and Aramis Ramirez.

Just to let everyone know, we've officialy lost "the Big Nasty" (read my thread for more info), which means that Armas, who has given up 3 ER or less in all his starts, is now officially our best starter.

You should probably say "temporarily lost."  You make it sound like we traded him or something ;)

well with the way we have been playing WITH patterson, temporarily losing him to the DL will be similar to the fire-sale in Florida in terms of how good this team will be.

Actually, I wouldn't be surprised if this team started going on a tear now that their best pitcher is on the DL, because honestly NOTHING THIS TEAM DOES MAKES SENSE!!

Meh.  None of our starting pitchers have been THAT awful.  Our offense (or painful lack thereof) is the principle reason we are 7-15 and not 11-11 or better.  Armas has been great, Patterson has been great, and the rest have been serviceable at least.  Not great, but still potential winners if we ever scored more than 2 or 3 runs in a game.  Our bullpen has been pretty blah lately but again, if we ever gave the game to them with a 3 or 4 run lead, it wouldn't matter so much.

Ha!  I'll agree with you on that one ;)

I'm going to call this game:

I say that this game will be decided by the 3rd inning.  This is hoping Armas can get us out of the 1st inning without incident.

After last night's frustrating loss (WHO ELSE WAS COMPLETELY FLIPPIN THEIR LIDS THAT BRIAN SCHNEIDER HAD A 2-RBI DOUBLE), I was sure that I would neve watch a Nats game again. But I actual can't wait till tonights, for some reason, I dont know why, I still care about this team.

O and did anyone else notice, that we and the Cardinals have the EXACT opposite records.

I wouldn't expect too much from Armas on the road, he's been better historically at RFK.  I'm sure he'll be alright, but with our offense as anemic as it is right now, he'd practically need a no-hitter to give us a chance.

They also have almost exactly the same stadium dimensions as we do, and nearly identical to what people are predicting for our future new stadium.

I didn't think anybody was arguing that.  Although you have to mention Vidro.  He and Nick are the best, Soriano is a ways behind in 2nd, and Guillen is hanging back with Zimm and Church (though even they are out-slugging him)

i HIGHLY doubt it, there is Pujols for one. And besides, Johnson doesn't have a wide appeal.

That's what I like about him.  He's just a John Everyman who goes out there and hits the crap out of the ball.  No flair, no grandstanding, no nagging about the walls.  Just does the job and does it well.

I really think Spiezio must've lost a bet.  There's no other way someone voluntarily wears something that ridiculous on their face.

Who else thinks its time that Pujols receives the "Bonds Treatement." I mean, the FULL Bonds Treatement. Where people not only walk him constantly but accuse him of using steroids to the point that no one will ever take any of his records seriously.
