I said in "2015" which I am assuming Morse, Suzuki, and Span are not resigned. I dropped the ball on Ramos.

CF Goodwin
3B Rendon
1B Zimmerman
LF Harper
RF Werth
SS Desmond
2B Espinosa
C Ramos

Something close to that.

I think we have Span signed for three years (through 2015).

3rd year is a team option for 9.5m I believe.

Could do like the Rays would do and trade Span after a year if Goodwin is ready.  We'd probably get the same level prospect we gave up for him.

Then what does it have to do with a 2-year deal for LaRoche?  In fact, wouldn't a 2 year deal for LaRoche help that plan?

I was replying to a post stating LaRoche might take a longer deal with Boston.

On MLB Network they just suggested a trade of Morse to Seattle, saying he would be a good fit there. I'm sure this has been mentioned but would Seattle trade Hultzen?

Can you, or anyone for that matter, explain how LaRoche makes sense for Boston?

Probably not, Hultzen is a potential ace after all. Much of the talk here and at websites like FanGraphs has suggested Morse could go to Seattle for a power reliever like Carter Capps.

We need Carter Capps.  Do it Rizzo.

Just looked up Capps. Wikipedia says he sits at 99. He would make us as good as the Braves in the bullpen. Get him.

This is what he looks like:

Delivery looks a little too Tommy-John friendly to me, but that could just be because of the lower slot, I'm not expert. I'll take the 100mph fastball with movement though.

He's a Gold Glove and Silver Slugger. That's how he makes sense for the Nats. For two years, at a not-crazy price.

Boston, they already paid out the wazoo for their first baseman.
...or the Nationals?

For a guy that may be a right handed specialist? Doubtful.

Can just see it:  game in world series, runner on third, ball is dribbled between pitcher's mound and first, Gio goes to get it and so does Moose. Collision of empty heads. Batter safe, runner from third scores. Moose and Gio shake their heads. Davey comes out of dugout.

What would the Royals trade for Mike Morse?  They could put Alex Gordon in RF and Morse in left.  Morse would be a big upgrade from Francoeur.  And Morse is relatively cheap which is important for the Royals.
