they were discussing this tonight on the radio, his 5-24 August was one of the worst one-month records in MLB history.  Still, firing the guy with 6 games left in the season is a class-less move.

In a half defense of Acta (or 1/4): those players were so bad that only the Casey of the early '60s could have managed them: by talking so much nonsense so fast that fans forgot to watch the players.

Indeed. Let us not forget that this year's Indians team gave regular playing time to Johnny Damon, Lou Marson, Jack Hanahan, Shelley Duncan, and Casey Kotchman.

You forgot Aaron Cunningham, Jason Donald, Matt LaPorta, and Travis Hafner

I hope their next manager is Riggleman.

He won't be.  It will be either Francona or Alomar Jr.

Personally I'd love to see Sandy get the job.  Great guy, beloved in Cleveland - and highly regarded in the league.  I could see him doing well.

I think Dave Martinez would be their best option.

Martinez is probably the top dog on the market.  Francona is more of a name and has a track record, but he's not a great game manager (much more of a season manager and player manager).  I'd still like to see DeMarlo Hale get his shot.

I agree with your sentiment on Francona.  I think he's just a product of where he's been.  But Sandy Alomar Jr. deserves a shot, and I think he'd be an excellent fit in the city he played - the city he's loved in.

Francona's been invited for an interview per Bleacher Report.

He has been, but I don't ultimately see him getting it.  I do see Alomar Jr. getting it, and as I've said, I think he'd be a much better choice than Francona.

But now that Bo Porter has been hired in Houston as their manager, do you see Acta coming back to DC to be bench coach or 3rd base coach?

No way!

Btw Antonelli was just on MLB on XM.  Said Sandy is one of his Primary Candidates but will be interviewing Francona.  Said they fired Acta since they will be talking with coaches and players about Next year and he wasnt going to be involved in those conversations.  So he cut him before the season was over.  If thats the case, Riggleman may be a good fit.  At least this GM lets his mgr know where they stand!

LOL. True!!!

Chris Anonetti needs to be the next one to go followed by Shapiro.  Once all that's done, Dolan should sell the team.
