So they're just gonna call their OS version 10 and then update it all the time?  That's just like making lazy service pack updates.  Who would ever call their OS version 10 for years and years!?

they won't- either it will become unbearably bloated over the years (just think service pack 7 in 2020) or something will happen to make it obsolete

There will continue to be minor and major updates.   They just won't have different names.  It will be just Windows.  They couldn't do that now because there are still too many users using too many existing versions of Windows to do that renaming now.

"10" is a placeholder.

How are they going to go about selling it?  Or is it just buy it, and get updates for life for that license?

Likely...Possibly...  This is one of the things that wasn't mentioned in the presentation today.

Paul Thurrott is a beast btw.

:lmao: at skipping Windows 9. This is like when there was no Leisure Suit Larry 4 and Larry had amnesia.

I wonder if Software Assurance will still cover 10.

I'm sure it's the last major release ever BTW.

Any talk on pricing? Hope it's less than previous releases considering they scrapped updates to W8 to fold into this release. I'll go check out Win Super Site later.

As long as it's not a subscription model.

I might be the 2nd biggest PC fan around these parts (very distant 2nd after PC himself  ) but so far I'm finding very little to love about 10.  I have a very mature, very stable 8.1 install with Stardock Start8, and I'm very happy with it.  Aside from the start menu - which for me isn't needed, and is in my opinion inferior regardless - there's really nothing new about 10 in the first preview aside from the pointless "new look" clipping of all window borders.

Unlimited Office 365 storage.

I wonder how serious they are about unlimited? Google should test it by buying a one user plan and attempting to back up the internet on it

Google will be right behind them, trying to bury competitors like Dropbox.

There is no way it's actually unlimited, at some point people are going to find a way to test it

It was already at a terabyte per user. 365 is a ridiculous product

How is windows rt?  Something like on of the surface rts or one of those cheap dell tablets with quad core 1.3GHz atom CPUs?

RT stands for Redheaded Tech-child. I love my Lumia 920, but it's infuriating that the 365 integration is better on an android or iPhone, Skype doesn't work for jack, and the built in Bing search doesn't sync to my MS account like it would on another brand.  Very so close to awesome, but ultimately dropped balls left and right.

Microsoft is folding some of the Intune MDM capabilities into 365.

Their cloud platform is really shaping up. If you go Office 365, it's getting really hard to tack on non-MS services instead of staying within their lineup. I'm guessing they're giving you a portion of the Intune capabilities just to hook you into Intune instead of Airwatch or whatever.

The only thing keeping me on Google right now is inertia.  Most of Microsoft's services look and feel better to me.

Office 365 really does blow Google away.  I just can't bring myself to switch as I'm too used to Google.

For personal use Google is great.

For business, Google Apps isn't really even a direct competitor to 365 and their reps will tell you that. They are targeting the companies that don't need the full office suite and SharePoint, etc.

Most of my company's clients are on 365. I did do a Google Apps migration this month for a development firm and it was fun; Google really does have that cool factor.

The cloud price war is insane though. Every time you turn around someone is offering up more storage or driving the price lower.
