So according to Adam Schefeteterer

RGIII will undergo surgery on his LCL this week where he has torn a lot more than previously expected. When they do surgery on him, they will see if he has any more damage on his ACL. The expected timetable is 8-12 months. If there is more damage on the ACL, there is a chance that it wont lengthen the time frame. I believe this is still all hypothetical numbers.

I've still got high hopes. I'll wait until after the surgery to start panicking and feeling like crap. I already did enough of that these past two days.

I mean look at AP. He came back fast as crap and his injury time frame was like 9+ months!

AP is a freak of nature. Best case, he still misses an entire offseason (he can still do classroom stuff at least).

Cousins is going to be trash. Hope I get another veteran contract.

Missing an entire offseason is still pretty good since he would, hopefully, have a chance to come back in one of the early weeks.

It was also AP's first knee injury. Will be much harder the second time around.

Basically, we'll see him in 2014. My hope is the Cousins becomes the next Matt Schaub and we get a first rounder for him in the 2014 draft.

If Cousins pulls a Cassell and gets the team to the play offs next year, who's to say they don't keep the qb with decent knees?

Cassell missed the playoffs.  11-5 record, but missed the playoffs.

11-5 in a division with Eli, Romo, and some dude in philly should be enough

They don't win eight games with Kirk Cousins as QB.

I hope they, at best, win no more than four games this year.

8 would be an improvement over last year's prediction

I'd prefer they win zero and Mensa Mike Klanahan be executed on the 14th Street bridge but you can't always get what you want.

as long as I'm not taking the kids into the city - otherwise find another bridge

Not even panicking about RGIII until after his surgery is done.

A spread QB from a Big 12 school not living up to expectations and/or getting hurt?  Shock of the century.

Same way I'm going about this. It sucks about the PCL, LCL, ACL, DSL, or whatever the hell else there is there. I feel bad and I know it's going to be a long injury... but let's get the experts final opinion on this. I think the Strasburg and Zimmermann injuries may have helped ease the pain a bit but we're lucky that it's 9 months away until an official football game. That can be some good rehab time.

Quote
ASHBURN, VA—Redskins coach Mike Shanahan announced Tuesday that quarterback Robert Griffin III will undergo further medical tests assessing the condition of the unrecognizable, ragged mess that was once the rookie’s right knee. “We’re not sure of the exact situation with Robert’s bloody, distended bulge around what formerly resembled a working joint,” said Shanahan, who explained that when he elected to play Griffin against the Seahawks, some cartilage was still connected to the bone, enabling the star quarterback to run and remain upright without hurting himself. “Doctors will continue to examine the useless, visibly throbbing tangle of tattered ligaments until they are confident about what to do next.” Shanahan added that regardless of the test results, he would instruct Griffin to continue running intensive speed and agility drills throughout the offseason.

I didn't read "The Onion" first and by midway through the third line I stopped reading out of pure sickness. Then saw the title.

I'm in a cold sweat.

ACL is a tear of the previous graft done on it.  LCL is a tear.  Dr. Andrews is saying expect a 6 month recovery but it could be up to 8 if RGIII experiences a setback or two.  He's expected to be ready to start next season.
