We could get our first rain-delay of the season tonight - per NatCast on the Post's Capital Weather Gang blog, chance of rain 70% (http://voices.washingtonpost.com/capitalweathergang/natcast/):

Thunderstorms are likely to sweep through the area sometime during the game. The good news is they are likely to be fairly fast moving but the first rain delay of the season is a distinct possibility. If thunderstorms do threaten, head for cover in the concession areas. A towel to dry off that seat might be a good idea too. Oh yes, and a jacket by late in the game might be needed as temperatures will drop in the wake of the storms.

Yahoo! Weather sees 30% chance of rain late this afternoon, 60% tonight.

One bright spot: if any of those Phillies supporters get caught in the rain and can't get under shelter, it may be the first time some of them have showered/bathed in a number of weeks.

Great, our best chance to win a game and we're playing backups.  Not that it's likely going to matter.

Please Craig, (my girlfriend loves you) shut these phools down

With the off day, no need to use Nieves at all. Plus, put Guzman in right and see what happens.

Craig Stammen pitching?

(Image removed from quote.)

I had a bad feeling last night, but then I woke up and realized he had a pretty darn good spring.  I really think that elbow surgery helped him repair that arm so he can mix his curve and sinker; pitches that complement each other nicely.

 we get a win before we head to new york.  don't have much faith in garrett mock tomorrow.

Brilliant idea to bench our young SS who has a 1.232 OPS for a guy with a career OPS almost half of that! Why not bench Kennedy who wasn't proven anything yet?

I knew Guzman was going to start today, but didn't think it'd be over Desmond.  I agree have Guz start @ 2B (or hell even RF).

The Filths line-up is going to eat Craig Stammen alive.

If I didn't have a blog that three people paid attention to, I would seriously consider not paying any attention to these games until Wang, Strasburg, Olsen, Detwiler (or any mix of those guys) are inserted into the rotation.

...okay, I lie. I'd still pay attention, but God damn is it hard.

i know what you mean.  and not to make it any worse ... but there's no guarantee those guys are healthy/pan out.  ah, same old crap!

This is why I got into the message board biz instead.  I don't have to pay attention to crap.  And in fact - everyone brings the important news to me

They mean to get Guzman his 400+ at bats, as stated.

Oh, come on. It's the Nats. Is Desmond not being there really that much of a surprise? They'd sit Jeter in his peak.

:bang: freak you, Riggleman/Rizzo.

I'll be watching the Rays kill the Woes or Tommy Hanson and Randy Wells face off tonight.  No need to watch another debacle.

Well, at least the Phillies are fielding their scrubs for the final game of the series.

This is Stammen's first career start vs. Philly.

I think he rises to the occasion today. (Man, that sentance just doesn't have the same effectiveness when Wang isn't part of the discussion...)

I don't see this as an advantage. The Nats had a hard enough time squeezing out 10 ST wins against legions of scrubs this Spring Training.
