they're airing a special on Ricky Henderson.  I didn't realize he was such a beast.  He's what Nyjer Morgan wants to be.  At the very beginning Ricky says if you want to be a great base stealer you've got to "eliminate the fear".  Oh, and have incredible talent doesn't hurt either.  Morgan definitely doesn't have any fear.  He just doesn't have the talent.

He's sure got the physical talent - speed - necessary, but so have lots of other ballplayers.  Call it instinct, but it's really an intellectual ability, to recognize the subtle cues from the pitcher and know when to go.

I know this probably means a lot to yinz but on Wednesday at 8 PM (MLB Network) ... the 7th game of the 1960 World Series.   I was in study hall when Maz hit the shot over Yogi and the Longines clock in left.    Oh, happy day ....

Found this recently:

Quote
Washington, D.C. (December 6, 2010) -- Baseball's MLB Network says it's now available in 56 million U.S, homes and it hopes to soon reach 70 million by signing up Dish Network and AT&T.

The channel made the disclosure at an investors conference last week.

Reuters reports that officials at the baseball channel did not offer any specific dates for when they would reach agreements with Dish and AT&T. But they did say they hoped the deals would come before the start of the 2011 baseball season.

Dish's 14 million plus subscribers and AT&T's 2.7 million customers would put the network over the 70 million mark.

"There's two major players that don't have the network," said Tony Petitti, MLB's top executive. "If one of those players came in, we'd be right on top of the 70 (million) number, and if both come in we'd probably exceed it."

Petitti said his network will no longer offer an equity stake to persuade a TV provider to carry the channel, a practice the network followed in signing up DIRECTV, Comcast, Time Warner and Cox.

If this is true, it might entice me to make the switch...

Other than RZ, I don't think so.  First is just so crowded.

He is one of the top 20 offensive players in the game and should be an average fielder at worst.

Right, I meant Zim too.  I thought LaRoche might slip in at the 9 or 10 spot.  I haven't seen any of these other shows.

I know but having not played the position regularly I thought would keep him from being that high.  I'd probably put Beltre and Wright, at least above him.

Arod at #3.  Zim will be in the top two!  Coin flip with Longoria and Zim, probably.

At this point, Jonah Keri and Dave Cameron are beside themselves, hi-fiving, saying "we were right!  We must be right!  Even these jocks agree that we were right!"

I loved that they said Zimmerman might only be #2 but might be in the top 10 overall.

I'm a little lost. Is Zimm on the list, or no?

Basically confirmed what I thought that Zim and Longo were basically a coin flip.

I suggested on Fangraphs that they stage a steel cage match between Zimmerman and Longoria, the winner getting to claim the undisputed 3d base championship of the world, and loser being omitted from any further discussion on the Fangraphs website.

I don't think that Pudge is the one on the active roster with a shot at the Hall.

Relief pitchers and Shortstops today.  Rivera was the top RP.  Is he still the best?  Didn't see the SS edition on the first run.  It's coming up next.  If it's Jeter, I'll be  .
