Say what? How does calling it an error or not change the outcome?

When an error is ruled you play the inning out as if it hadn't been an error and the batter was retired to figure out if any runs are earned or unearned. Doing this the inning ends before any runs score so that IF it had been ruled an error the runs would've been unearned because the inning would've ended before any runs eventually scored.

Ahhhh I just woke up (it's almost 6am in Aus) what the freak happened? Bryce's 2nd homer doesn't even begin to make me smile in this situation

I missed the whole thing. :(

Tried to follow on game cast. What did I miss other than Harper's bomb (425+?) and Strasburg's first poor outing?

Bad defense and crappy clutch hitting (in that we failed miserably in the couple of potential chances we had).

Bright spot, Phillies just blew a save in the 9th to the Astros. Now tied 3-3 after a two-out clutch single by JD Martinez.

So is this guy Bass really good, because he's thrown a lot of swinging strikes that are down around guys' shoelaces according to Gameday, or are we just swinging at anything and everything?  I'm not watching on TV, so I can't tell...

I think you misunderstood my question, or I misunderstood what you were saying.  Stras let in 3 runs whether they called the drop an error or not.  Bernadina deserves his share of the blame for sure, but I don't really care what it shows on Stras' stat line, SD still scored 3 on us.

Did not hear that. That's a pretty good move for their program. When will it go into effect? I was at the brandcenter on the VCU campus last Friday. I ended up eating at a little spot down the road that featured a pretty good gyro.

Well at least after this game, we can stash Perry back in the 'pen for another week or two.

Bummer.  Glad to see Harper found his power though.  Could make for some interesting games in the upcoming weeks.  We need everything we can get for the rough stretch of games later this month/early next month.

As long as we can hold the lead in the division I can live with not winning a series very often.

So is everyone wanting to get rid of Detwiler after last night, ready to give up on Stras now?
