Top banner...
« Topic Start: March 15, 2009, 02:16:28 PM »
I'm really not digging that top banner, its cheesy and looks kinda old. We need a cutting edge top banner to the site. I remember there was a contest for it once but that didn't amount to anything.

Is there hope to change it?

I'm fine with changing it but I don't recall being a huge fan of any of the ones from the contest

I agree. The current one is fugly.

I like just about everything about this site: http://www.braves-nation.com/

I wish someone would set up a Nats site/forum like that. Get to work, Chief!

Here is a link to the contest, I forgot that I had actually "won" it.

We could probably do better one year later.

Man, Ken was really something else (I just felt like glancing through that thread for old time's sake).

Yeah the banner is showing it's age, but I appreciate Ken making it for us, and it has served us well.

As I already mentioned, I wasn't fond of any of the results from last year, and given what a crappy season it was, I think some new submissions would be best anyway.

I have a ton of other ideas but here's my first shot (a more modern look). A more classic baseball tone might be the way to go, though.

The width would need to be lengthened slightly to fit the parameters of the banner area.

Chief, even if it's only temporary, put Lastings_Thrilledge's banner up there. That is money.

Not to be a nag about it, but how about putting up "temporarily" the actual winner of the potential banner category from that contest?

A permanent replacement banner should be decided on before anything is done about the old banner.

Who says it has anything to do with Nationals Park? It's welcoming you "home" to the best Nats fan forum on the web.

A panorama of the park with a well-done wnff overlay would be suitable for temporary use, possibly permanent if the quality were high enough.

Something everyone needs to keep in mind is that the banner has to be able to scale with different screen resolutions.  The current one is actually 2400 pixels wide so that there isn't any empty space on the right side for users with higher-resolution displays.

Not to be a critic but the text is ugly, the red block on the left is ugly, the stadium shot is a bit dark, and it looks like Zimmerman is being gang-raped.

I'm also trying to forget the entire 2008 season.

Am I the only one who thinks this is really garish? It's just ... loud! And things.

I agree the Mets Refugees banner is amazing. Best one posted here, in fact.

Hey, you guys voted it, not me. I only made it and apparently enough mods liked it to vote it "the potential."

That must be a recent update because that site didn't look anything like that a year ago.  In my opinion, it still doesn't have anything on us, unless you're comparing banners (do you like our new one better? ).  Their new forum layout looks too busy to me...  a few too many icons (which is an inherent problem with message boards already).  They're also using a completely different BBS package than we are.  Ours is free.  Theirs costs $100 a year.  If you want to foot the bill i'll be happy to make the switch.

I don't see it? :?  But I never see a banner here anymore.

I've got 5 on it. :D
