It has been well publicized that Rowling wrote Dumbledore as a gay character, she said so herself.
The other part was just a riff on PA.
I did not know this, when I looked it up, I got this:
"It's very disappointing that the author would have to make one of the characters gay," said Roberta Combs, president of the Christian Coalition of America, "It's not a good example for our children, who really like the books and the movies. It encourages homosexuality."
