Really? I think he could get one every 8 games. Sounds like a lot, but he definitely could do it.

I think that if he started trying to drive the ball a little bit more instead of going for the power swings so much, he could get a hell of a lot more doubles and strike out a whole lot less.  I do think he is capable of hitting a lot of HRs, though, just not sure how many.

QFT.  I don't see the Giants repeating, personally.  There D was pillaged in the off-season, plus their main strength, the D-Line, has lost their two top guys in Strahan and Omeniyora.

Plus..Manning played out of his ass down the stretch last season. I don't think he can do it again.

I do still think they will be good, though.  I just don't see them pulling out the same type of magic as last year.  With that said, predictions are pretty worthless in the NFC East.

The only problem is that he wouldn't be catching everyday. That would have him playing 160 games. I think he's the type of players that will get them in bunches so I see it as a possibility. He'll at least challenge 20.

QFT. I definitely see him as a future power-hitting catcher. Doesn't mean he'll be in the league leaders, though.

ditto, I'm thinking they disappoint with 7-8 wins.

Agreed. Manning is a good QB, but he played out of his mind at the end of the season last year.

Potomac-Wilmington:  Atliano goes 1-2-3 in the top of the 3rd.  John Solano of the P-Nats singles, then gets moved to second on a bunt, then to third on a passed ball.  Michael Martinez then grounds out, forcing Solano to hold at third.  LeFave fails to get Solano in as well, by flying out to CF.

hah. for the giants?

probably 5-11, given the amount of respect the Giants are given these days. even as defending champs, the Giants are still discounted.

If you're a big fan of Hanrahan (I almost am) and Zimmerman (I am), you might like this picture. Too bad it's at RFK.

cowboys were the class of the division last season too.

and we saw how that turned out.

that said, Osi's injury hurts us immensely. having Kiwi at linebacker would have been trouble for opposing teams, as he is basically a DE in the first place.  but now he's got to play DE, and we'll have to scramble a bit to find a OLB to take his place.  our pass rush will be fine, i think. but our LB core is hurting now.

Well, Romo choked away that game last year because he had a whole lot of this on his mind:

They are basically treated like the Rockies were at the beginning of this season. Both surprised last year. People usually question those teams going into the next season.

Damnit Milledge.  He sometimes lacks the instincts to make those plays. Ugh, Sportsfan would be throwing a fit right now.

Utley is just nag slapping our franchise around this week. It makes me sick to think how happy those Philly fans are.

Yeah, it's one of the better wikipedia player pictures. I really think the guy was born to be a closer. All of that starter and middle relief stuff just slowed him down. :D

I don't think I've been drunk during a game/game thread more than a handful of times, and those were all coincidental.  Maybe I should try it sometime

That is true, but the Giants played out of their minds in the playoffs. Still, I understand where you're coming from (2002 Patriots).
