Washington Redskins Thread (2011)
« Topic Start: April 19, 2011, 07:04:15 PM »
Skins open at home against NY Giants (4:15) and have only one prime time scheduled game. Week 3 in Dallas.

They travel to the West coast only once (Seattle). Besides that they don't leave the eastern time zone except for their annual trip to Dallas and the game at St Louis.

Jeez they are pathetic. I remember a few years ago when I was in PA they played like half their games in primetime and so I got to see a whole bunch of games on TV.

I'd be pretty pissed if we used out second round pick on Kaepernick (a couple of mock drafts have us picking him). Mallet is the better QB option there if he's available. Kaepernick was a good college QB, but I just don't see him doing well at the NFL level.

Hopefully either J.J. Watt or Julio Jones is available at #10.

I doubt the Skins even consider Kaepernick. I don't like Mallet either.

The thing that I liked about Mallet when I watched him play was that he could hit the out route better than most NFL QB's can. I don't necessarily want us to get him, but I'd definitely prefer him over Kaepernick.

I'm telling you, this guy is going to make those two look like Peyton Manning in comparison.

In that piece with Jon Gruden Newton came off looking like a complete moron. When asked to give one audible call he used at Auburn he was unable to do so. In Auburn's offense they look to the sidelines for the call. The QB is basically no different than any other player in that offense.

That's cause he is a moron.  I can't wait to see that guy get crushed by Lance Briggs and Julius Peppers once he starts, assuming he gets drafted by Carolina.

It looks like Washington trades with Jacksonville. They move down 6 spots and pick up a second rounder.

Idk about taking a linebacker.  I assume they plan to play him on the right???  So many other needs I kinda assumed that linebacker was our strongest position

Far from the strongest position. TE is probably the Redskins strongsest position. At LB they have two undersized ILB McIntosh and Fletcher (one who is very old) and a OLB who is too big and slow for the position and can be a liability in space (Alexander). Orakpo is a nice rush OLB but he too has been exposed in coverage. I don't see how this addresses any of those issues.

A pass rusher opposite Orakpo- then again, with two olbs who are really d ends and can't cover, we basically have a 5-2 defense

I like the pick, I like the trade more. That extra 2 is huge.

If he can either play de in a 3-4 or cover it's a slam dunk

I know some listed him as an outside linebacker, but I just don't see him doing well there. He might split time between OLB and DE, though. That could work. He might not be a star right away (he's no Orakpo), but he won't miss tackles.

Kerrigan ran a 4.67 40-yard dash at the combine. Not bad at all.

They would've been better off picking Cameron Jordan, Prince Amukamara  or an OL.

Can't believe Cam went 1-1. I know nothing about the guy the Skins drafted.
