This team still tracking closely behind the 1925, who won their 8st game on September 2nd, then standing at 81 - 45, having beaten the Philadelphia A's.
This team looks like winners. No more waiting for "reality" to drop them.

Unbelievable that with more than a month left in the season we have matched our best win total since the return of baseball.

Just saw the DVR of the game. I have no idea why Davey put Moore in for Bernadina, but whatever, we go the curly W

Strasburg pitched a beauty today. Just read in the Post, his last game will be Sept. 12th.

Comparative dates on which the Nationals notched their 81st win, each season...and then there were two...
2012 - 2nd September (133rd match of season)
2005 - 28th September (159th match - final win of season)
---
2011 - finished 80-81
2007 - finished 73-89
2006 - finished 71-91
2010 - finished 69-93
2008 - finished 59-102
2009 - finished 59-103
---
THIS DAY WITH THE '05 OVERACHIEVERS: Friday 2nd September 2005 saw the Nats, after splitting a four-match series at Atlanta, fall baxk ro earth with a 7-1 loss at home to the Phillies, keyed by David Bell's grand slam in the third...record now 69-66...

Actually the Nats would rally and win the Saturday and Sunday engagements of this series...it would be the last home series they would win that season. In September the 2005 Nats were 7-3 on the road...but only 5-14 at home.

Yep. I'm very excited and a little apprehensive at the same time.
