State College, PA? Medlar Field at Lubrano Park, I was there a few summers ago. I don't remember any mini green monster... They had a mascot called the Nookie Monster, emerged from a nook in left center field wall...

The RF bleachers are elevated above the field and the wall comes up to meet them, you can see it in the photo. The Nook is ridiculous, not sure why it is put there. The park is gorgeous, great view, and the food is great, too.

Did you like the park?

Figured I'd kick this off with a story about how dilapidated the stadium is in Woodbridge.  The county just appropriated $140k, Art Silber will kick in another $70k, and that's only enough to fix up the clubhouses.  Shouldn't the Nationals kick in some money as well or are big league clubs usually not in the business of helping upgrade facilities for their affiliates?  I can't imagine Strasburg or Harper ever playing here under these conditions.

http://voices.washingtonpost.com/virginiapolitics/2011/02/prince_william_sueprvisors_pro.html

i will say, the fireworks shows are really good.

While some teams do own some of their affiliates, the great majority of minor league teams are owned independently of it's big league parent. Art Silber, the  P-Nats owner is on his own to make his ownership of the P-Nats successful. Silber's issue is that his agreement with Minor League Baseball requires him to meet a minimum set of standards, and it's his responsibility to meet those standards. He can deal without the county, or anyone else, but ultimately, it's his business on the line.

As for Loudoun, they have an agreement in pace without the independent Atlantic League, but I could see the P-Nats there in the future...

Oh then screw em, make Frederick an offer they can't refuse.
YESSSSSSSSS!

The stadium serves as the home for the Potomac Nations, the Washington Nationals' Class A minor league team.

Well, could have been worse...

Now that I think about it, I do remember the RF wall... We sat on the 3B side. I should have taken a walk out to RF.

I did like tha Park there. Nice setting. Liked the walking taco and they had a nice selection of beers.

The people in the town really care about the team and park and so they take very good care of the stadium, pick up trash, volunteer to usher, etc. My favorite part of that review you posted is that people cared more about the game than the silly games.

I only got out to a couple games last year, planning to go to a lot more this year.  Do they still do the dollar ticket/dollar hot dog thing on Mondays?  I believe there used to be a deal like that..

I might be the only one, but I like The Fitz. It has a dive bar atmosphere and I like bars that are total dives.

The Pfitz is more like the nasty back alley behind the dive bar.  The players and PNats fans deserve a better entertainment venue where we can support our team.  The Pfitz has gotta be as bad a facility as there is in A+ ball.

Now that Kinston is closing down, the Pfitz is the most bare bones venue in the Carolina League.

Isn't that where this thread started, that the owner had to put in some cash to address issues at Pfitzner?

Oh yeah, I'm definitely going to this.  Maybe I'll audition to sing our national anthem

I like dive bars. Not dive baseball fields, though.

I do like amateur fields when they are done right. A couple of the Cape League fields would be my preferred places to catch a game, over the gaudy MLB stadiums.

they have beer, baseball, and Ben's half-smokes.  Add some comfortable seating and I'm set.

And the fireworks shows are very very good.

I'm not going on Monday, but P-nats should be fun to watch this year.  Hood, Perez, Kobernus, and Leon could be fun to watch.   I'm still assuming harper skips Potomac and goes straight to Harrisburg.

That seems to be what everyone is predicting will happen, but I'd love to be able to see him play before he moves on up.

If there is a shutdown, I could see myself migrating across the Occoquan for that.

There was talk here in Cumberland a few months ago about a group of investors trying to get a minor league team here.

Nice, I think they could put a NYPL team there to play with State College and Williamsport.
