Haha MLB Gameday just has a curly W in place of his portrait

Leadoff walk on 8 pitches to begin the game, not an encouraging sign :?

I don't like this lineup.

You have a rookie pitcher playing.  You need a run-scoring lineup, even if you have to sacrifice defense.

This is not a run-scoring lineup.

And Castilla made an error and left two guys on bases.

Keep playing him Robinson!!!!!!

This guy needs tto rest a litlle bit and when we tell him to...he becomes frustrated.

Which is fine but we're trying to win games here.  Your lineup has to, at least in part, reflect who's pitching.  A rookie is likely to require a lot of run support.

Maximizing your chances of winning, in this case, means giving up a little defense if it means scoring more runs.

2-0 Fish.

My thought before this game began is that we didn't have a chance, what with the spot-starter.  So far my thesis is being borne out.   We may get lucky, but I consider this one to be a write-off.

Not necessarily.  I wouldn't have played Guzman, period.  Guzman does not equal run scoring and I probably wouldn't have played Cruz either because he doesn't take enough pitches, especially against this Marlins pitcher.

I would have tried to get Rick Short in the lineup.  The Short-detracters say that he's a "singles and doubles hitter" who "doesn't have a defensive position that he's great at".  We need "doubles and singles hitters", especially tonight.

I would have played Carroll despite the fact that he's not good against right handers.  This Marlins pitcher isn't that good so he'd likely walk Jamie once or twice because Jamie will take pitches.

Also, Zimmerman might be a good choice because hitters have an advantage when they haven't been seen very much.

The totality of the situation should determine the lineup.  I don't know what determines Frank's lineups.

Frank Robinson should replace Guz with Short.

Well holy guacamole.  They walk Bergmann and Wilky goes yard!  3-2 Fish!

If Bergmann and the 'pen can hold the line, we may have a chance.  Hey Marlon!  Bring that chip on your shoulder to the plate again!

C'MON NATS!

Who walks a pitcher?

I'll state again.  This Marlins pitcher isn't very good.

He's also pretty wild, if this most recent inning is any indicator.  2 passed balls.
