Try the Theobroma. All I'd the beers in that program were "scienced" to match the original, historic ingredients.

I agree because I was at a point where I was concerned I was becoming a blind homer being as every beer I tried I fell in love with. I was worried that I was more in love with the brand than the beer. Luckily Namaste and Pangea proved otherwise. I must say, their unconventional approach to beers is awesome. I'm glad you like the Ta Henket though, because that did nothing for me

I actually like all of the ancient ales execpt the Finnish one (sah'tea)

Didn't they do one where they scienced an ancient beer bottle to find the ingredients and then made it?  Was it that one?

I like their 120 minute IPA.

its the one that was on the Tv show, I'm guessing modern hygiene standards precludes it actually replicating ancient beers (I've read that mash was just exposed to air and allowed to ferment and. a straw was placed in the bottom.of the vat to avoid the scum.on top)

grammer nazi vs labeling

(Image removed from quote.)

Cool!  I honestly couldn't tell for sure if it was a misspelling or that's what the beer was called.  Figured I'd force the issue.

Has anyone tried Brooklyn Black Chocolate Ale yet? I have a four-pack in my fridge but I'm going out to a bar to masochistically watch the Cardinals reach the World Series.

One of the best beers ever.  Let it breath.

It's been on the store shelves for a long time.  It's really an awesome dark beer

It's you, or it sounds like a bad batch. I've never seen salt as an ingredient in beer.

Yeah must have been bad taps/bottles, Heineken should taste exactly the same as Tsingtao and all the other boring lagers.

Uh. ... it's good. Maybe salty is the wrong word. But I've had a dozen or so Dutch/Norwegian/Swedish pilsners and light lagers. All seem to have this same salty-ish flavor

I just opened a "Beck's Oktoberfest", took a sip, and immediately poured it out.  Tastes like ass.  Brewed in St Louis as it turns out.  Guess I'll have a Strongbow instead....

All Beck's sold in the USA is now brewed in St Louis, ever since the InBev/Anheuser-Busch merger.

Pity about the Oktoberfest though - regular Beck's (still available at H-T for $4.99 for a four-pack of cans - a nice alternative to the conventional bottle 6-pack), even if no longer fully authentic, still tastes reasonably good.

[Strongbow does make a good alternative though.]

It's not skunk. This is a re-occuring theme over the last ten years of drinking.

The 'Tennants Super' that one would see a lot of outside Highbury before an Arsenal match must have been well over 10%, but this is a whole different order of crazy.

Tennent's Super is 9.0% ABV and is still, along with Carlsberg Special (9.2% ABV), the toast of London's roughsleeper community.

Scottish brewer brings out 65% ABV beer: http://www.foxnews.com/leisure/2012/10/24/scottish-brewer-unveils-brewmeister-armageddon-world-strongest-proof-beer/

WANT. The strongest beer I've ever had was right about 20% (Fort, World Wide Stout ad 120 Minute IPA, All Dogfish Head offerings) But I would give that one the old college try. I like to write checks my liver can't cash.

I've had in the 40s before, and at that point, it tastes more like a bad whiskey that a strong beer, I'm guessing 65, would just be a weak whiskey

At 65% ABV, that would be a really strong whiskey (that's ABV, not proof)
