Twins trade Francisco Liriano to White Sox for minor leaguers Pedro Hernandez and Eduardo Escobar. At first glance, very disappointing.

Nothing from Goessling yet.

Kotteras to the Athletics.

Quote
SUNDAY, 12:51am: The Brewers will receive right-handed reliever Fautino De Los Santos in the trade according to Susan Slusser of The San Francisco Chronicle. The 26-year-old pitched to a 7.25 ERA in 36 Triple-A innings this year and owns a 4.21 ERA with 11.4 K/9 and 5.0 BB/9 in 36 1/3 big league innings with Oakland over the last two seasons

I guess we couldn't do better than that.  :?

I just saw that. Pretty laughable. They were seen scouting the Brewers recently, though. Maybe they have someone else in mind.

Diamondbacks picked up Chris Johnson from Houston.  When the 'Stros come into town, we're basically going to be playing the Oklahoma City Redhawks.

...actually when we make our final visit to The Ballpark Formerly Known As Enron Park as a NL venue (6th-9th August) - we played them at Nats Park in April.

(They're starting to vote with their feet down there too - this past Monday-through-Thursday they drew four consecutive less-than-20k houses for a series against Cincinnati and the opener against Pittsburgh.)

Well they should get used to it. It'll be a few years till they're competitive again.

Especially in the AL West. They're not playing the Cubs 18 times a year anymore.

Phillies and Rangers are working on a deal that involves Cliff Lee.  Hope he enjoys losing another World Series with the Rangers.

If the trade doesn't go down he's scheduled to start against Strasburg tomorrow.

Would love it to happen today. Transaction deadline for my roto league is 7 PM.  There are two teams with more money than me.  I need a high end starting pitcher. One guy tends to always bid to finish as high as he can, even if he does not finish in the money, so I expect him to top me for Greinke.  The other guy may bid, too, because he may want to force me to trade to upgrade.

The Orioles have received Joe Blanton's medical records which is a precursor to completing a trade, according to Rosenthal.

so, is that a signal the Orioles are going to make a run at it or that they've thrown in the white flag?

Reed Johnson just got traded by the Cubs.  Don't know who to but he was about to bat and was taken out of the game and was shaking hands in the dugout.

Geovany Soto shaking hands in dugout, as well. It appears he has been traded. #Cubs

Travis Snider dealt to Pittsburgh for Brad Lincoln and Eric Thames dealt to Seattle for Sean Delabar. Apparently, the Jays' new philosophy is, "Disregard outfielders, acquire relievers."

...maybe not quite as big a splash as reeling in a Dempster or a Greinke, but I remember Maholm pretty much dominating us back when he was at the Pirates.
