Wikipedia doesn't say if DeRosa got the degree. Actually I can't find any info on it other than this article which says he planned to:

I was trying to remember who the local athlete was that went to Rice. So I looked it up and stumbled across Alberto. Anyway, Harold Soloman went to Rice and he was a pretty good tennis player.

Hill leaves after two innings against Pirates
In his start against the Pirates, Shawn Hill left after two innings because of soreness in his right biceps. He allowed three runs on five hits while walking one and striking out one. :( :( :(

Shawn Hill being Shawn Hill. Sucks, but he should probably just retire.

i said this a while ago, we/Padres should've converted him to a reliever.  Less stress on the arm.  He'll be back.

I sincerely wish him well, but some of these guys have had more tendon and ligament repairs than my car has had oil filters.

Jerry Owens, the poorest excuse for a major league ball player in recent memory on the south side of Chicago, started for the White Sox in centerfield last night.  He looked clueless at the plate, made several poor fielding choices early in the game, but made one spectacular catch.

Owens was all but handed the starting cf and leadoff job for the White Sox at the start of spring training, squandered away any hope of making the roster by having such a piss poor spring, was put on waivers because he was out of options, and then, when every other major league team took a pass on him, was sent to AAA Charlotte because he had no place else to go.  He is back with the White Sox because of an injury to Dwayne Wise, and the Sox have little to nothing else to use as a back up outfielder in their system who is major league ready.  Its both sad and ironic.

I like Brian Anderson.  What about calling up Beckham and moving Alexei to CF?  Has Podsednik started to play in the minors?

He is done, that arm is cooked.  I don't think it has much to do with the workload with him, more with the fact that his body is just rejecting pitching (the motion and movements of doing it).  I feel bad for him, but Ronny is right, it is about time to retire.

Maybe we could transplant his brain into Bergmann.

Sounds like you need Austin Kearns to ride in for the rescue on a pale horse. ;)

All the Hill-haters need to quit swinging from their own balls.  Yeah we all knew Hill was going to end up on the DL, but for what they paid for him, would you rather have inferior results out of Cabrera (who we are still stuck with?)

We could have gotten 2-3 good starts out of Hill, DLed him, and then replaced him with who the hell ever.  Still better than D-Crab, at least in most of your opinions (Hill haters are by and large Cabrera haters)

I don't really give a flying freak one way or the other, but some of you guys are way too high on yourselves.

It wouldn't have mattered either way.  Hill lasted only 5.0 innings in his first two starts and then 2.1 innings in his third b/c of the injury.  That means we would have still had to have had to rely on our bullpen for 4+ innings, that is if Hill even made it that far with our defense.  Hill even had 6+ days of rest between each of his starts, a luxury he wouldn't have had with our 4 man rotation.

I'm not saying D-Crab is better, just that having Hill in the rotation for 3 games and then DL'ing him wouldn't have changed anything.
