What makes baseball such a superstitious game? I have never met fans as superstitious as baseball fans.

There's no better way to explain why any given team can beat any other given team on any given day.

Wait until you meet a baseball player!

You could look to the age of the game, or to the fact that so much hinges on random chance.

Baseball is played every day.

I have a daily routine. Do you? I hit the snooze button at least three times, plan my day while shaving in the shower and get dressed just in time to leave for work.

I work until 7 pm. Drink at least two energy drinks. Go home and watch baseball.  Life is going pretty good; I'm not changing crap.

Randon variability, but people don't want to hear that.  They want to believe in jinxes, hexes, curses, other mystical stuff because it requires less thinking.

Yeah I have heard the players are superstitious too! I guess if you subscribe to it it does "explain" hot and cold streaks, bad starts and good luck. I wonder, for players, if their superstitious work like the placebo/anti-placebo effect (e.g. they do something they believe is bad for their chances, therefore they do poorly because they were thinking negatively).

People who tempt The Fates get screwed by them.

What exactly are "Fates"?
