Nice Catch Church, saved a run.  Sucks to be down early though, the 3-0 deficit might as well be 30-0 with Smoltz on the mound.

Nice easy 1-2-3 for Smoltz.  I fully expect him to shut us out and possibly go 9 innings.

Jerome is embarrassing.  Come on Manny, if you want any chance, you have to pull him now and find someone who can hold Atlanta scoreless the rest of the game.  What an idiot, balk..

what upsets me is that the Nats have won 2 straight games after going 2-9. i thought it was important to contine the positive momentum. as a coach i would have had a plan for the first time around the lineup so that maybe our guys could have gotten a small lead 1-0 or 2-0 and have the Braves thinking that we have their number. but after a single, stolen base, throwing error 3 more singles a walk and a sac fly ....

You really expected our awful #5 starter to beat the Almighty John Smoltz?? I didn't.  There were several things going against us in this game.  We beat Smoltz last week, what were the odds that we would beat twice in one week?  Our starters had been great lately, what were the odds that they continued their almost perfect pitching?

Yeah but Bergmann was the one who won out against Smoltz, of all the pitchers I never saw Bergmann stepping up the way he did.  Anything can happen in this great sport.
