On a certain website which I can't find the link (sorry Knorr) Friday Night Lights was in the top 30 tv series of the 2000's.

1. The Wire
2. The Sopranos
3. Arrested Development

I will try to find a link when I'm at home, but I've head good things about FNL

Band of Brothers isn't a tv series. Its a mini series. It was listed as number 5 in that category with Generation Kill at one. If it were a TV Series, it would list one for sure, but thats why I never have it on mine haha.

Dexter was like 24th on the list.

The Wire deserves to be number 1.

for mine it'd be

The Wire
Lost
Dexter
How I Met Your Mother
24/Entourage, for now. Sopranos will probably trumpt it once I finish.

i'm not even saying that list was my personal one (i just haven't gotten around to the wire, i know when i watch all of them i'll love it).

band of brothers is the best tv show/movie/mini series ... whatever the hell you want to call it.

I couldn't get into Generation Kill, but John Adams and The Stand are my favorite miniseries of all time.

Season 2 is one of my favorites.  It is about the dock workers on the Baltimore harbor.  They are all different in themes each season, the first one focuses on the street gangs mostly, the second one on the dock workers, the third one on politics, the fourth on the schools, and the fifth on the newspaper.  The primary cast stays involved in the story line throughout the series.  All the seasons are quality.  What is so great about the show is how it builds on itself as the series progresses and the viewer is rewarded with cameo appearances by former characters and a very quality, all encompassing sociological look at the problems surrounding Baltimore.

As a side note, it is quite accurate in its portrayal of various law enforcement strategies and criminal justice theory.  I studied quite a bit of these theories/methods in college and was quite surprised at how well they were able to present them.  The show itself has a huge amount of realism.  The two writers for the show were a former Baltimore Policeman and former Baltimore Sun Writer turned teacher.  Also, a lot of the actors they use are people without any previous acting experience that were simply taken off the street.  I saw some article a few weeks ago about how a Harvard professor is trying to design a class around the show to help teach a sociology (?) class.

The DVD is out of print because it was an experiment in doubled-sided, dual layer DVD's, which never caught on. Too bad. It has Gary Sinise, Rob Lowe, Shawnee Smith, lots of good actors.

With a group of writers that includes Ed Burns, Dennis Lehane and George Pelecanos, there's no way The Wire could be anything but great. Burns and Pelecanos are also producers of the show.

It gets better. Each season is great. Its really hard to rank which season is my favorite but here it is:

3
4
2
1
5

And thats not even saying ones more superior, its just how I felt watching them.

I can't wait to see The Pacific. It looks like it's going to be just as good as Band of Brothers.

The original V was 10 bucks at iTunes, cheaper than the DVD at Amazon, so I snagged it.

HBO needs to step up their lineup.  Didn't get any better than when Entourage, Curb Your Enthusiasm, , The Sopranos, The Wire, and Deadwood were all going on at the same time.

Well they have some series' coming out soon that people say will be good. I couldn't tell yah but one is about a new orleans band trying to make it. Made by David Simon (who made The Wire) starring the actor that played Bunk.

The other is some fantasy show based on A Song of Ice and Fire

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Game_of_Thrones_%28TV_series%29

Sean Beans in it and hes kickass.. I dunno about the show though.
