You do realize no more than a couple years ago there was a stat going around that the football coach at Navy made more than 24 MLB managers?

Think about the hiring pattern. We were forced to take Frank Robinson. Then they hired a bright young guy in Manny Acta. They fired him. They retained Riggs after we ended the season much stronger than we started. We improved by 10 games last year under him.

Using the phrase "have never paid" makes it seem like they've been around for 20 years and gone through like 13 managers. They're on their second manager. Comeon now. Thing about it before you post.

The Lerners have always paid their managers at the lowest level in the league, but not by far the lowest because there are a few other teams who are just as cheap. Did they ever pay Acta 700K?  I thought he topped out at $600.  Apparently the thought is why pay for the multi-million dollar a year manager while the team still stinks, they plan to upgrade in the next two years once the farm system starts producing talent.

Beyond just hiring their managers at a cut rate, they don't sign them to multi-year contracts so every year except for Acta's first we have entered the season with a lame duck.

Amazing brilliance that move has turned out to be.  They signed the guy to a mega contract while not raising payroll, so we are left with no depth.
