Yeah so it's Redskins at the Cowboys, but mainly I'm just bored around here with very little TV and slow internet.  It just happens that tonight's game is on NBC HD, which I can pick up with my $20 HD antenna ;)

So let's have a foozball thread just for kicks!  Fans of any team welcome, this doesn't have to be a DC-lovers thread. :)

Naw, I was watching the game too.  Had to put the kids to bed and decided to check in.  That Dallas opening drive was sending me into caniption (sp) fits.  At least it was only a FG.  But goodness, the defense better show up to play soon!

Not so fast...  100 yard kickoff return makes it 17-10 ;)

Still a lot of game to play yet! :D

If the offense shows up...

The Redskins defensive secondary is laying some MASSIVE hits on the Cowboys receivers.  Did you see Owens stagger off after Sean Taylor laid one on him?  Wow.

I totally forgot about a 3-4 page paper about Revolutionary writers due tommorow. I've got 2 pages done, with the game on next to me. Game hasn't intrested me too much.

I wonder how many Redskins fans still think that signing so many free agents during the off-season was a good thing? With so many new players, and with all of them used to playing under different offensive and defensive systems, to have expected them to gel so quickly, was (IMO) on the extreme side of optimistic.

The only good news for Skins fans, is that your team will get better....... Eventually.

BTW, for Kim, the spelling is conniption, you were close

I kind of expected a slow start, for the reasons you cited.  But my main long term concern is that I just don't have confidence in Brunnell.  What good are quality receivers if the QB can't throw downfield to them?

Agreed.  Brunnell is about 50 years too late to be a starting QB in the NFL.  Ken, I'm not sure which 'skins fans you've been listening to, but my expectation for this year, even before pre-season, was that it would be nearly impossible to match what we did last year, and lucky if we split with the Cowboys.  Add in a healthy dose of injury problems, and you have all the makings of another dumpsterriffic season from the burgundy and gold

Thanks, Ken.  I was too tired to look it up!  :)  As you noted, free agents aren't always the best idea.  This will be another rough season.  I really thought that when Gibbs came back, we'd be back to our old form in a couple of years.  This has really surprised me.  And I'm not quite sure what to make of the reason for the lack of our team's ability to perform under Gibbs.

And Tom and Chief are dead on about Brunnell.  I'm not sure why they hung on to him.  I also can't remember why we let Brad Johnson go, too.

It's gonna be a long season guys!  sigh!

Very frustrating.  If we do not beat Houston by 14+ points, I think its time to start building, aka, bringing in Jason Campbell.  I'd feel ok with a 8-8 year with Campbell, but having that record with Brunell just seems like a waste of an entire season.  There's no doubt that our line played poorly last night, but Brunell looks like he doesn't want to be out there, and I'd hope Gibbs eventually picks up on this.
