I just got 4.3 on my s3- even more undeletable bloatware and some is now unhidable- if apple can make a decent size screen I'm done with android until the carriers loose control over updates

so if you have a notice that something has downloaded in the notification window, why in the hell can't you tap on it to open it?

finally lock screen widgets- except it's just the samsung clock, the same one as before, apparently they're reserving actual functionality for the S4 and note 3

imref - while fragmentation is an issue, that bit about developers is nonsense.  You'd be hard pressed to find anyone running anything below 4.x these days, there aren't any significant differences to mention within the 4.x family from a developer standpoint.

It's like saying that the lack of iOS 7 support for the 3GS and iPad 1 are a big developer problem.

I figured it out, apparently, I can't have an encrypted phone (requiring password) and lock screen widgets (only workout password/pin)- freak you samsung

I think that's actually a core Android restriction, but don't quote me on that.

it seems like it's touchwiz specific

Not sure when they made the switch over, but the 12/11 nightly of CyanogenMod 11 is on 4.4.2, I flashed it last night.  On my "unsupported for KitKat" based on what google says Galaxy Nexus.

with Google selling off Motorola Mobility to Lenovo, there are pretty much two Android phone makers left (Samsung and Lenovo) as HTC collapses.

I'm not sure I agree with that article.  There isn't any "loss" of a maker, just a change in owners.  HTC had a down year but they're still making well received phones, like the One.  It wasn't long ago that Motorola was "dead" but here they are now supposedly one of thee biggest android phone manufacturers.

maybe with lenovo, they'll have expandable memory, or maybe I'm the only person who refuses to consider a phone without it

I'm not sure how great the unlimited plan is. I swear to God they throttle my bandwidth. My kids' 2G plans seem to run faster.

That doesn't seem to suffer too much. Maybe it's just my creaky old phone.

Just ported my number from a Gnex on Verizon to a Nexus 5 on Straight Talk (got an AT&T Sim card).  So much more responsive.

I now have something at least close to modern in a smart phone. Droid Razr M running 4.1.2. As soon as I figure this mother out I'll be fine. !st mistake- synching to my PC for music. Damn thing filled up the phone's memory and now I can't update any apps. Have to go through and remove them one by one. But I really like it so far.
